The first couple of projects are part of a little Halloweeny ensemble.
I started with the treat box this time. I wanted to try cutting the box from something other than paper, so I tried some felt. I tried both regular felt and stiffened felt and found that the stiffened felt worked significantly better.
I die cut my box from stiffened black glitter felt and assembled it with Scor Tape. You could probably use hot glue if you were concerned about the durability of the tape, but it's been holding just fine. A tip about using eco felt with your Papertrey dies: use a sheet of scrap paper between your cutting plate and your felt to allow the die to really cut into something. It greatly reduces the number of tricky areas that need to be trimmed with scissors.
Next, I die cut and stamped my Mr. Bones and a sentiment flag from Countdown Details. I adhered both to my felt box with Scor Tape. The glitter in the felt gives the project just enough glitz.
The card came next.
I began by stamping a white card base with Lemon Tart polka dots and adhered on a strip of Canyon Clay that had been textured with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. Then, I trapped the base with black jute and tied a bow before setting it aside. Next, I die cut a Mat Stack #3 Layerz die from Smoky Shadow cardstock. I stamped and embossed that shape with a sentiment and stamped it with the stitched background from Background Basics: Retro.
Then, I die cut and stamped a second Mr. Bones and two treat bags (those were hand cut). I colored the Ripe Avocado (old formula) pumpkin with Copics, adhered it to the True Black bag, and added a string handle to the bag. I then mounted both Mr. Bones and the bag to my Mat Stack shape and adhered it to my base with foam tape.
My final card today is a little "missing you" number for my fella. He left yesterday for a work trip that's going to keep him out of town for a long-ish while. The house already seems too quiet and I'm missing his company. I thought making him a card would be a nice way to pass the time.
I started by faux letterpressing a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock using Fresh Snow ink and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate (just tap the ink pad onto the plate before embossing). The results aren't as perfect as actual stamping, but I love the way the ink shadows give the panel added interest. Also, I like doing this technique best with pigment inks; they're thicker and they tend to stay on the plates better than die inks. I adhered that panel to a white card base and wrapped the base with Simply Chartreuse ribbon and white cotton twine.
Next, I die cut a Half & Half shape from Soft Stone cardstock and stamped the bottom edge with the grassy image from Love Lives Here. Then, I die cut and stamped the fence from Little Bitty Bird Additions and added the same grass detail along the bottom edge. I mounted the fence to the Half & Half strip and stamped my sentiment. I then die cut and stamped my bird. I stamped legs for the bird using the "x" image from Handle With Care and mounted my bird overtop with foam tape. The focal point was then added to the card front with more foam tape.
I hope you've enjoyed today's projects! I'll be back tomorrow with a few more projects for you.
