Throwback Thursday: Happy Hearts & The Cover Plate: Hearts

Good morning, friends, and welcome to this week's Papertrey Ink Throwback Thursday. I want to start off by thanking everyone who sent me a message of kindness or support after my announcement last week. I truly appreciate knowing that there are so many wonderful people out there cheering me on in this next chapter. I am filled with so much gratitude.

Anyway, today is about Happy Hearts and the Cover Plate: Hearts die, so let's get started. Cover plates make card making so quick and easy. Throw in a coordinating stamp set and your projects come together in a snap! The Cover Plate: Hearts and Happy Hearts stamp set might strike you as a Valentine's Day specific pairing, but I've used them to create a heartfelt thank you card today. I hope you'll consider this a thank you for each and every one of you.

I began by cutting the cover plate from Classic Kraft cardstock. I trimmed off two rows of hearts to give the panel a sleeker look and traced a handful of the hearts onto a white card base. Next, I stamped over the traced hearts with one of the images from the Happy Hearts stamp set using Tropical Teal ink. Then I adhered the Kraft panel into place.

Next, I sponged a bit of Tropical Teal ink onto Aqua Mist cardstock and die cut it with the "thanks" die from Bold Borders: Diagonal. I die cut a couple of additional thanks shapes and stacked the three together. Then, I die cut a First Place banner from Green Parakeet cardstock (I cut twice to get the double ends) and heat embossed a Happy Hearts sentiment with white powder. I adhered that to the front of the card with foam tape and then attached the "thanks" right above it.

I love that this is clean and simple with a select few details to make it special. It's also a gender neutral color scheme so you could give it to just about anybody.

Thank you so much for joining me today! I have one last Papertrey post next week to wrap up my design work. I'll see you then!

I'm trying to be a better commenter instead of just a "looker" I actually like both cards for Throwback Thursday, but, if you are one who appreciates CAS designs, your new card is such a nice example of the transition to a cleaner design. I like the thinner panel and the random stamp pattern, rather than the more quilt like design of the first. Top notch card for Throwback Thursday!

Sincerely,
Susie ~

Love the Cover Plate Hearts cut down in size, Lizzie! Your color scheme and white space are right up my alley. Thanks back at you and pray you wake up each day with a grateful heart...knowing how much we’ll miss you and your creative talents at PTI. I’ll be stalking you anyway! 💕

I am cardmaking with friends this Saturday and was struggling to come up with something that felt seasonally appropriate but wasn't a Valentine's card. Not only is your project just what I was looking for, but I own the stamp set and cover plate! Hooray! I'm running back to my craft room now to whip up a sample!

I will continue to follow your blog and will love to hear what crafty adventures come your way. Many thanks!

I don't have that cover plate, but love your card! I love the Corner Adorner sets & am so sorry you won't be with PTI in the future. Change is always expected, but not for a whole company to reinvent themselves. Sad at this point for those of us who are fans. Wishing you a peaceful, successful year, Lizzie! PS--hoping a winner gets announced soon for the Jan Blog Hop contest in the forum.

I'm sorry about the contest drawing. I'm afraid that's something over which I have no control. Maybe try contacting customer service? Best of luck!
