June Color Play

Good morning, Friends. Can you believe that it's already June? Thank you for joining me for this month's Papertrey Ink Color Play feature! This month we have an inspiration photo from Kiran Tarun's delightful food and photo styling blog. Her beautiful photo of roasted sweet corn popsicles inspires a color combo of Lemon Tart, New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores, and Enchanted Evening.

This is such a peppy, refreshing color scheme that lends itself well to masculine projects. With Father's Day right around the corner a masculine combo seems fitting. The brighter colors offer an alternative to the darker, more neutral tones you might expect for a manly card.

I started by die cutting my large frame from Enchanted Evening stock and the sentiment banner from Hawaiian Shores stock. I stamped the bracket label onto the coordinating die cut using New Leaf ink and trimmed out a window for the sentiment. The Father's Day sentiment is actually a two-lined ditty from Rhythm & Soul that I selectively inked and stamped all on one line in Enchanted Evening ink. The two layers were adhered together and then mounted to the Enchanted Evening frame. Next, I stamped my little sunny scene in Lemon Tart and New Leaf inks onto white stock and adhered it behind the frame.

Then I stamped my tent onto Hawaiian Shores and Lemon Tart patterned papers and pieced it together for a little extra fun and texture. Tip: I also backed the tent with a bit of cardstock make it a little sturdier. The tent was mounted to the frame with foam adhesive and that whole piece was set aside while I stamped my background. The background layer was adhered to a white card base and a simple bakers twine bow was tied around the whole base. Finally, I mounted the focal point to the card using foam adhesive. The result is a cheerful Father's Day card for the outdoorsy mister in your life.

Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you've enjoyed this month's project and I hope you'll share your projects using the color scheme over on the Papertrey Ink forum. We'll have a thread ready in the Challenge section that you can use to share photos or links to your projects. Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I love your card!!! What stamp did you use to create the grass? I have been looking for one to do create that look.

I used Love Lives Here for the grass. I just overlap the image so it has varying texture. Thank you for asking!
