April Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 5

Good morning, everyone, and welcome back for the fifth day of Papertrey Ink's April Countdown. I have a final handful of projects to share with you today that feature 7th Inning Stretch, Handy Hardware, and the On The Links die collection. Let's get right into it!

My first card today is a thank you card using Handy Hardware. I started by stamping the barn wood background from Background Basics Farm & Barn onto Spring Rain cardstock with VersaMark ink. I stamped two panels at an angle and attached them to a Rustic White card base so that the stripes resembled a chevron-y barn door.

Then I die cut and stamped my tools with Dark Chocolate and Enchanted Evening inks. Next, I die cut a Mat Stack 3 shape and double cut a 2 1/4" Limitless Layers Oval right out of the center. I mounted that atop a panel of cork that had been adhered to the card base. The tools were adhered by using Scor-Tape to secure their handles and foam tape to pop up their tops.

The final step was stamping the sentiment on a banner from Bountiful Banners. That was adhered to the frame with Scor-Tape on each end and foam tape in the center to give it a little dimension. Nice and simple, but lots of great texture.

My next card is a birthday card featuring 7th Inning Stretch, but with a few elements that make it potentially more appealing to a softball star than a baseball guy. I used a Royal Velvet, True Black, and Aqua Mist color combination as well as stripes of glitter between each of the bat "rays."

I created my rays by first stamping the liner-upper stamp from Hello, Sunshine in Soft Stone and then used that as a guide for each bat. The helmet is plenty large enough to cover the liner-upper, so it works out perfectly! After my rays were finished, I stamped my sentiment and then went back and added strips of 1/8" Scor-Tape down the center of each gap.

Next, and this is important, I mounted my helmet before I sprinkled on the glitter. That allows the foam tape to really stick to the base (and the ends of the Scor-Tape) without having to worry about stray glitter weakening the adhesive's hold. Super simple and easy to customize with your MVP's favorite colors.

My third card of the day is another 7th Inning Stretch number. For this card I began by die cutting several 1 3/4" circles from white cardstock.

I stamped each circle with the stitching image from the set and adhered all but the sentiment ball to a Soft Stone card base. The card was then impressed with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. Doing this step after adhering all of the balls in place saves a lot of time.

The ball with the sentiment was stamped and textured separately before being mounted with foam tape to help it stand out a little bit.

My final card of this release features the On The Links die collection. I began by stamping the argyle pattern from A Little Argyle onto a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock. That was then die cut using the Fabulous Frames die.

I next wrapped the frame with some crochet thread and finished it off with a button and bow (again, one little bow never hurt anybody - just ask your shoe laces). I stamped the sentiment on a Soft Stone Base and added the frame with foam tape.

Next, I die cut two of the golf bag and stamped one in Pinefeather and one in Palette Charcoal. I trimmed the clubs from the Pinefeather image and adhered it over the Charcoal copy. The golf bag was then also added to the front of the card with foam tape.

Well that's all for me for this countdown. Thank you for joining me this week. I hope you've enjoyed yourselves and picked up a little inspiration along the way. I can't wait to see what you all do with 7th Inning Stretch, Handy Hardware, and the On The Links die collection. I hope you'll share your creations with me! See you soon!

Love, love, love, the baseball card. What a great design, as is the baseball helmet card. As for the golf bag card - ha - one little bow never hurt anybody - just ask your shoelaces. LOL! What a riot. Thanks for the great new sets this month.

Wow, fabulous cards, Lizzie! Love that blue barn door (what a neat idea) with the tools, the Slugger card with the bat rays (very clever), and the baseball card. Great golf card and will be getting that set, too, now that I have a golfer in the family:)

I must have missed this last post. All your cards/projects for this last release were awesome. SO creative. And I love how you paired so many older items with your new sets/dies that are coming out....so nice to see how to give new life to old things with just a few new products. I especially love your last two cards on this post. I can think of specific people that would just love to get cards just like them in the mail. Thanks for all the inspiration!
