November Color Play
Welcome to this month's Papertrey Ink Color Play feature. This month I'm using this beautiful photo from Better Homes & Gardens as my inspiration:
Aren't those colors simply wonderful? I know it seems sometimes like the stamping world has moved straight on to Christmas, but I'm still head over heels for Autumn's warm tones. Those rich golds, reds, and greens keep me feeling nice and toasty even as the air turns cool and the days grow shorter. This photo gave me such a gorgeous palette! How could I resist?
I knew I wanted to make a Thanksgiving card this month. I personally have so much for which to be thankful and Thanksgiving has taken on a more significant meaning for me in recent years. Unfortunately, with a family spread hither and yon, we can't be with everyone for the holiday itself. This year I am going to challenge myself to send as many Thanksgiving cards as I possibly can. Today's card is a start.
I began by texturing a Classic Kraft card base with the Rustic Burlap impression plate and set it aside. Next, I stamped my sentiment in Dark Chocolate and stems/leaves in Pinefeather ink onto a 2" strip of Rustic White cardstock (Side note: I was planning to use the stems from Mum's The Word, but they were a smidgen short for the layout I wanted to use, so I opted for the stems from Meadow Greens). Then, I die cut my mums from Rustic White cardstock and stamped my flowers using the Rock 'n Roll technique. The large mum used Canyon Clay and Terra Cotta Tile ink while the smaller mum used Summer Sunrise and Canyon Clay.
Next, I die cut a pinked edge from Terra Cotta Tile and tucked it under the right side of my Rustic White strip. I adhered that whole piece to the Classic Kraft card base and added my mums atop their stems with foam adhesive. I finished the card with a small Rustic Jute twine bow.

October Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 5
Good morning and welcome back for Day 5 of this month's Papertrey Ink countdown. I've really enjoyed seeing all of your excitement for my new dies. I have just a couple of additional projects to share, so let's get to it!
I'll start today with my final tag trio. I wanted to make sure I didn't neglect my Jewish friends, so today's tags are all Hanukkah themed. I used a combo of blues and yellow/golds to make these lovlies happen.
For this first tag, I began by die cutting the main tag shape from Spring Rain cardstock and the secondary shape from white cardstock. I textured the Spring Rain piece with the Herringbone Impression Plate and set it aside for a moment. Next, I stamped the menorah using a combination of Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, and Lemon Tart inks. The "To:" and "From:" sentiments were stamped in Enchanted Evening ink and the white piece was mounted to the Spring Rain shape with foam adhesive. I finished the tag by glittering each of the candle flames for a bit of sparkle.
The second tag is a little bit of a two-parter held together with the baker's twine. I began by stamping my candle pattern onto white cardstock before die cutting the tag shape. I didn't want to cover up my pattern, so I decided to add a free-floating layer for my sentiments. I die cut the tag shape from vellum and stamped and heat embossed my "To:" and "From:" sentiments using Enchanted Evening ink and clear embossing powder. The two layers are connected only by the twine and that allows them to swing a bit so you can see the pattern easily while keeping the gifting information legible.
My third tag is another shaker tag, but this one's a bit different than the one from the other day. Rather than make the top shape a frame, I used a full second cut shape to create a fully die cut panel. I started with two white tag shapes. Next, I die cut the large menorah from the Menorah Medley Die Collection out of the center of one of the tags. I used Spring Rain and Gold Shimmer cardstock to back parts of the menorah and stamped my sentiments using Enchanted Evening ink. Then, I created a shaker area up by the flames. I used chunky gold glitter inside the shaker, so the candles look like they're flickering when you shake the tag back and forth.
My final project of this release is a Christmas card using the Loop De Loop II border die as a fringe of sorts. I began by die cutting two lengths of the Loop De Loop II die from white cardstock. Next, I stamped a strip of Aqua Mist cardstock with polka dots and a small grounding oval. I adhered the loop borders to the back edges of the Aqua Mist strip. Then, I die cut the tree shape from white cardstock and stamped on my trunk with Dark Chocolate ink. I then stamped the tree top onto Simply Chartreuse cardstock using Ripe Avocado ink and trimmed around it with a craft knife. I adhered the tree top to my die cut and mounted it to my Aqua Mist strip with foam adhesive.
Next, I stamped my sentiment onto a Kraft card base before texturing it with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. I adhered my tree strip to the card base and embellished the ornaments with Christmas Red Stickles. As a final step I added a small star from the Star Gazer Die Collection to the top of my tree and glued on a small, yellow rhinestone.

October Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 4
Good morning and welcome back! I'm so glad you'll be joining me today on Day 4 of this month's Papertrey Ink new release countdown. I have a couple of additional projects to share with you today that feature the Loop De Loop II border die and the Tag Sale #8 die. Let's get started, shall we?
Today I'm going to start with my tag trio. I wanted to go with a Pinefeather, Vintage Cream, Autumn Rose, and Scarlet Jewel color palette for these tags and the design theme is "vintage Christmas carol."
The first tag uses the main tag shape from Tag Sale #8 along with one of Dawn's new 2013 Holiday Tags stamp set.
I began by die cutting an oval from Vintage Cream cardstock and stamping it with the musical score tag image in Scarlet Jewel ink. Then, I stamped the score image a second time onto scrap Cream cardstock using Pinefeather ink. I trimmed around the sentiment banner, leaving just a hint of the Pinefeather border in place, and adhered it to the oval layer before mounting the whole piece to a decorative Autumn Rose layer with foam tape. Next, I die cut the main tag shape from a piece of Pinefeather cardstock and stamped it with one of the strips from Background Basics Medallion in Pinefeather ink before adhering on my oval piece.
My next tag uses both pieces of the Tag Sale #8 die.
I started by die cutting the main tag from Autumn Rose and the secondary shape from Vintage Cream. I stamped the Autumn Rose piece with Background Basics Sheet Music using Scarlet Jewel ink. The Vintage Cream piece was stamped with the leaves and sentiment in Pinefeather ink (both from To You From Me) before being adhered to the Autumn Rose tag with foam adhesive. I inked the medallion (from Round Repeats) with Scarlet Jewel ink and stamped it on scrap stock before trimming it by hand and adhering it to my tag with foam adhesive. A small self-adhesive pearl colored to match finishes off the center of the medallion.
My third tag uses the same musical score tag as the first card, but pairs it with texture and shimmer for a nice variation on the theme.
I began by die cutting a Scarlet Jewel tag as well as an oval and a decorative oval from Vintage Cream. The Scarlet Jewel piece was spritzed with glimmer mist and textured with the Wrought Iron impression plate. The decorative oval was stamped with tiny polka dots using Autumn Rose ink while the musical score was given a similar stamped treatment, this time with the colors reversed. I mounted the score oval to the polka dot decorative oval using foam adhesive. That whole piece was then adhered to the Scarlet Jewel tag. I love how shimmery this tag is! The glimmer mist almost looks like glittering snowflakes.
My final project today is a card that showcases the Loop De Loop II border die - paired again with felt for a fun effect!
I began by die cutting a length of Vintage Cream felt using the new die. I snipped it into sections and glued the ends together to form rings. I used small wooden clothespins to hold the ends together while I worked on the rest of the card. Next, I textured a piece of Winter Wisteria cardstock with the Diamonds impression plate and adhered it to a Vintage Cream card base. Then, I sprayed a piece of Soft Stone cardstock with glimmer mist and die cut a Half & Half shape as well as the new Wonderful Words Snow shape. The "snow" was textured with the woodgrain impression plate to give the appearance of drifting snow.
I then die cut another Half & Half shape from Spring Rain cardstock and trimmed off the edges. I stamped that with the dashed diagonals image from A Little Argyle (using VersaMark) as well as the beginning of my sentiment (using Plum Pudding) and then layered it overtop of the shimmery Soft Stone shape. I adhered the layered Half & Half piece to the card front with foam adhesive and added on my "snow" die cut (also with foam adhesive). Then, I removed my felt snowflake rings from the clothespins and flattened them out, adhering them to my card front with tiny dots of Tacky Glue. To finish my card, I embellished the snowflake centers with threaded Ocean Tides buttons.

October Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 3
Good morning and welcome back for Day 3 of this month's Papertrey Ink countdown! I'm loving the feedback I'm getting from all of you. It's so much fun to see how excited you are for these new dies! I have a few more projects to share with you today, so let's get to it!
I'll start today with a little hello card that uses the Loop De Loop II die. I was playing around the other day and it occurred to me that using felt with this die would give you all sorts of options. The final cut is thin enough that it's super flexible and can be manipulated to fit all sorts of shapes. My first thought was a sun.
I started by trimming out a frame from a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock and stamping it with Polka Dots using VersaMark. Next, I die cut my loopy border from a piece of the new Summer Sunrise felt. I continued by die cutting and stamping one of the sun centers from Hello Sunshine. Then, I die cut a couple of small clouds from Soft Stone cardstock and one large cloud from white cardstock. I stamped my sentiment (also from Hello Sunshine) onto the large cloud and then textured all three clouds with impression plates (small - Rustic Burlap; large - Linen & Canvas). I thought the different textures would give the card some nice dimension.
To assemble my card I took a white card base and lightly penciled where the window in the Aqua Mist frame opened. Then, I arranged my elements and stuck them down with either flat adhesive (small clouds), Tacky Glue (small dots on the felt), or foam adhesive (pretty much everything else). The result is a little scene of sorts all contained in my little frame.
Next up is my tag trio. Today's tags share a fairly traditional color scheme of Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, and Pure Poppy. The images are all fairly classic as well.
My first tag is an example of using the two dies together to create a frame. I began by die cutting both a white and a Ripe Avocado main tag. Next, I stamped the Ripe Avocado tag with the plaid background from Autumn Pattern Pieces and die cut it into the frame shape. I attached the white and Ripe Avocado pieces together and stamped the "To:" and "From:" sentiments in Dark Chocolate ink. Then, I die cut a candy cane shape and stamped it with its coordinating image from Candy Cane Christmas. I continued by stamping the holly leaves from Boutique Borders Christmas and hand trimmed them. I mounted the candy cane and holly leaves to the tag with foam tape and finished by embellishing the holly leaves with a few tiny red rhinestones.
My next tag uses just the main tag shape. I die cut the tag from white cardstock and stamped it with the pine boughs from Bells & Boughs using Ripe Avocado and Spring Moss inks. Next, I die cut the candle and stamped it with a coordinating image from Wishes Come True using Pure Poppy and Lemon Tart inks. I stamped my "To:" and "From:" sentiments in Ripe Avocado and added the candle to the tag using foam tape.
I have one last tag for you today. This one uses the two tag pieces layered. I began by die cutting the main shape from Spring Moss cardstock and the secondary shape from white cardstock. I stamped the Spring Moss shape with polka dots using Ripe Avocado ink. Next, I stamped the pine garland image from Love Lives Here: Holiday using Ripe Avocado ink. I added the berries using the tiny singular dot from Polka Dot Basics as well as my "To:" and "From:" with Pure Poppy. I mounted the white shape to the Spring Moss shape using foam tape and then embellished the berries with a tiny dab of Stickles on each image. It gave them the perfect amount of sparkle.
