Good morning, friends, and welcome to Day 1 of the
Papertrey Ink June Countdown! For the next five days we'll be sharing projects showcasing this month's release. Today, we're introducing a collection from
Betsy Veldman that is sure to thrill all of you ocean-lovers out there. The Salt Air series includes the Flora set, Fauna set, and a mini packed with fabulous sentiments. Let's take a closer look with a project!
I thought it would be fun to create a vivid scene for a baby card. So often we use pastels for babies, but why not exercise some of those brighter colors? Especially if you know an expectant couple that enjoys the ocean.
I began by sponging a watery background onto white cardstock using Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal inks. I splattered the inked surface with clean water and Copic Opaque White Pigment to add some visual texture.
Then, I created a sandy ocean floor by applying real decorative sand to Fine Linen and Classic Kraft die cuts In The Meadow die cuts. I adhered them to the front of my card with dimensional adhesives to add depth. Next, I stamped and die cut several coral pieces from
Salt Air: Flora and tucked them between the sandy bits.
I wanted my sentiment to stand out, but I didn't want to obscure the background any more than was necessary. I chose to heat emboss the
Salt Air: Sentiments greeting on a vellum banner which worked perfectly. I also stamped and die cut both of the sea turtles from
Salt Air: Fauna. I adhered them to the card front with foam adhesive, using the small turtle to hide the adhesive for the vellum banner. A couple of googlie eyes give them a slightly comical, baby-friendly appearance.
I hope you enjoyed today's project. That's all I have to share for now, but I'll be back tomorrow with more of this month's Papertrey Ink release. Until then,

Such a cute baby card. I love your color choices. It makes for a different baby card. Usually they are all pastels and this was a nice change
So cute, Lizzie! Love this!
What great sets! Your card is wonderful❤️
Fabulous card, Lizzie. It is a wonderful alternative to pastel baby cards, yet can be used for any age group. I definitely could see my teenage nephews appreciating this one.
Lizzie, You have changed your web site and I can no longer copy and paste your images into Evernote. Now I have to do a screen ccvapture. Can it be fixed??
Kathy
Lovely card. I'm in awe of these beautiful images that are fab in every colour palette.
My apologies. There were a few coding things I forgot to do on the back end, but it should be good to go now. Sorry about that!
