January Color Play

Good morning, Friends! Can you believe that it's the beginning of a brand new year? I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store. Anyway, the beginning of a new month means another Papertrey Ink Color Play feature has arrived and I'm here with a fresh color scheme for you to use in your post-holiday crafting. Let's get to it!

When I saw this photo, I fell in love with both the color palette and the texture of the knit gloves. I wanted to try and incorporate that texture in my project this month along with the inspired color scheme as a little extra challenge for myself.

I began by stamping a piece of white cardstock using one of the linear images from Ombre Builders with the ink colors in the inspired palette. I stamped on an angle in one direction and then stamped over everything a second time in the other direction to achieve a crosshatching pattern. I love how this sort of blends in the colors a bit so there are areas where pops of color are more vibrant or visible. It really adds to the visual texture of the pattern. I trimmed three strips of cardstock from the larger patterned piece and adhered them to a Soft Stone card base. I added a Wet Paint die cut and a sentiment banner that I'd heat embossed using white detail powder. It's always nice to have a few extra thank you notes around this time of year and I'm sure this one will get used in no time!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you've enjoyed this month's Color Play project and I'm looking forward to seeing how you use this month's colors for yourself. Have a wonderful New Year's Day and I'll see you again soon!

Great card! I love that it is not gender specific so you can have it in your stash ready to go at a moments notice.

Lizzie, your card is just striking! You really rocked your own challenge with texture and all. Now I need to add to my order because I was unsure if I "needed" Ombre Builders. Such an enabler you are! : )

Love this! You DID capture the knitted texture, and then some! Love the simple movement you added, with a tilt of the sentiment!
