Grandma's Brooch

Good morning, all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Today I wanted to share a gift I made to give Sean's Grandma for this past Christmas. I love how easy my Papertrey dies and felt made this project!

I used the Doodlie-Do die collection to cut two Simply Chartreuse floral clusters and the Vintage Cream flowers. The Harvest Gold flower was cut with the Lovely Layers die collection.

I embroidered the flowers and leaf veins onto one of the flower clusters, adding in Melon Berry buttons and glass seed beads. Then I stitched both flower clusters (down the stems) to one of the Aqua Mist Stitched Circles. I blanket stitched (my first time! Don't look too closely!) around the leaves. That provides stability and hides the not-so-pretty back of the leaves and flowers.

I finished off the brooch by punching holes in a second Stitched Circle that I stuck the pin through. I used a few stitches to keep the pin securely fastened into place and added a tiny bit of polyfill (about the size of 1/2 a cotton ball) before stitching the two Aqua Mist pieces together.

Grandma seemed to really like it when she opened it and I hope she'll love wearing it in the Spring. Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful week and I'll see you again soon!

Recipe:

Dies: Doodlie-Do Die Collection, Lovely Layers Die Collection, Stitched Circles Die - Papertrey Ink
Other: Melon Berry Buttons - Papertrey Ink; Embroidery Floss - DMC; Brass Bar Pin; Polyfill; Glass Seed Beads
