Papertrey Favorites

Good morning, friends! Welcome to the kickoff for this year's Papertrey Ink anniversary festivities. We're celebrating our ninth birthday over the next week and a half and I hope you'll join us for each and every fun-filled day. Today Nichole is introducing the team and issuing a creative challenge over on her blog, so make sure to check in with her and find out how you can join the celebration!

During the summer of 2011, Nichole, Julie, and Jane took a chance and offered a largely unknown stamper and illustrator a place on their product design team. I jumped at that chance and officially joined the team in February of 2012. Then this year, I was thrilled when those same lovely ladies extended an opportunity to join the Release Team as well. I remember getting that email from Nichole and immediately thinking "Be cool...be cool...be cool..." while being anything but cool. I may have danced. I may have squealed. I definitely called my husband. I am so grateful every day to Nichole, Julie, and Jane for allowing me to continue working with them and all of the other wonderful people associated with this fantastic company. I can't wait to see what the coming year will bring.

We were asked to choose a favorite card from the past year to use as a color challenge. I almost immediately thought of this one:

Confetti Congrats Card

I had so much fun creating that card and it turned out exactly right. I was so tickled when it was finished! You can see the original post HERE, but I'll make sure to mention all of the supplies at the bottom of this post, too, just in case you don't want to hop all over the place this morning.

The colors I'm playing with today are Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Limeade Ice, Summer Sunrise, and Berry Sorbet. I just love these bright and sunshiney colors! So much so that I'm playing with them again today.

You've Been On My Mind Card

I began by die cutting the bowls and cherry filler from the Second Helping Of Sunshine set. I stamped those with the coordinating images from that set and the original Bowl Of Sunshine set. Next, I stamped an Aqua Mist panel with the Background Basics: Splats small dots strip in Fresh Snow ink.

You've Been On My Mind Close Up

I stamped the shadow, Outlined frame, and sentiment onto that piece before mounting it to a white card base along with a strip of Limeade Ice Ombre Stripes paper. I finished up by adding the bowls and cherries to the card front with varying depths of foam tape. I love those cure, simple cards that are perfect for jotting a note to a friend, don't you?

Thank you so much for joining me today! I hope to see you back here again very soon with more of the Papertrey Ink anniversary countdown. Make sure to check in with Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Erin, Heather, Kay, Laurie, Lexi, Maile, Melissa, and (of course) Nichole today! You definitely don't want to miss even one moment of this month's countdown! See you soon!

Loved that first card - it was so fun and festive. And the 2nd card really calls to me right now because of an idea I have mulling around in my brain (and in my planner) about being more intentional in my card-making this year. I love it. I can't wait to see what you're creating for us this year, Lizzie!!

congrats Lizzie! I'm always skeptical when new designers join PTI and I remember when you were added to the team I felt the same way. Forgive me for that! You are definitely on my "awesome chicks to follow" list. I love your card style. Simple, clean, big impact. So glad you will be staying with PTI for another year. And love the hair. Your new photo is amazing.

Loved the simplicity of your Confetti Congrats card, but your second card nailed your color recipe. Everything looks so real. Eager to see your new designs and creations. Keep that wonderful Newsletter (and tips) coming...great job, Luzzie!

Blushing to admit this, but ditto every word that Rebecca said. Lizzie, I'm truly sorry for having had a question in my mind. You have been a shining example of creativity and hard work and I admire you so much. Thanks for always giving me such inspired projects to look at. Big hugs to you!

OK, since everyone is being so honest here, I admit that I wasn't a fan of your original card. The design is fabulous, but the colors seemed so drab. What a difference a card makes! Using an Aqua Mist base just makes the others colors shine. Love it! And I'm looking forward to seeing all you design this year - stamps, dies, cards, etc. Thank you for inspiring, Lizzie.
