Now that the details are out of the way, let's get to the projects!

I love it when a set inspires me to try a new style or technique and this set does just that! I love the painted style of the flowers in this set. I wanted to create a background to complement that style, so I played around with a dry-brushing technique and I love how it turned out! I simply mixed a bit of water, white acrylic paint, and Aqua Mist reinker together and ran a barely-loaded brush over a piece of watercolor paper. I brushed both directions to create an almost linen-like effect. So fun!

I adhered a piece of Pure Poppy + White polka dot paper and the watercolor panel to an Aqua Mist card base. I stamped one of the sentiments from the set using True Black ink on a stitched panel (cut with one of the Noted: Scalloped Square dies) that I matted with Pure Poppy and adhered to the card front. Next, I stamped the flowers from Art With Heart onto watercolor paper using Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, and Green Parakeet inks. I fussy cut the flowers and added them to the sentiment panel with foam tape before embellishing the flower centers with crystal glitter. 

I went a softer, blended direction on this next card.

I began by sponging a bit of Aqua Mist ink onto a 4" x 5 1/2" white panel and then stamping the flowers from Art With Heart using Mint Julep, Lovely Lady, Autumn Rose, and Scarlet Jewel inks. I textured that panel with the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate and then adhered it to a Mint Julep card base.

Next, I sponged a scrap of white cardstock with Lovely Lady ink before die cutting with the top layer of the Layered Banner die. I stamped the sentiment from Art With Heart on that piece in Scarlet Jewel ink. The bottom layer I die cut from Autumn Rose and stamped with the lines from Layered Banner Banter using Scarlet Jewel ink. I adhered the two together and added the whole piece to the card front with foam tape. Finally, I embellished with a few sequins from the Sunshine & Rainbows Make It Market Mini Kit.

Moments Inked: Birthday Notes

Good morning, friends! It's my turn to share how I've been using my Moments Inked planner lately, so I thought I'd show you how I'm keeping track of birthday notes these days. You see, July is a big month for birthdays around here. Not only do Sean and I both celebrate birthdays, but we have other family birthdays tucked in there as well. I've been a little extra busy lately, so I thought it might help to organize all of the notes using the lined pages at the end of the month. Turns out, it's the perfect solution!

I wanted to make sure I had a section for shopping and gift ideas, a section for who I owe thank you notes, and a pocket to hold a handful of notes in the event that I have a few extra minutes that I can put to good use while I'm waiting for an appointment or something.

I created heading stickers for the gift and thank you note sections by pairing the new Background Basics: Galaxy set with Moments Inked: Listed and Tick Tock (the script sentiments). I sponged a bit of ink onto a piece of White Adhesive Sheet paper before stamping the striped banner and cutting with the coordinating die. Then, I added the sentiments in True Black and stuck them to the lined paper at the end of the month of July.

I used Moments Inked: Listed again to add check boxes below each sticker. I also stamped "gift list" to keep track of the gift ideas I have for the folks that need presents.

Under the Thank You Notes section I listed each friend or family member who sent a gift and what they sent. This way, I don't have to worry about forgetting who sent what and then be stuck writing a vague note of gratitude (not that I've ever had to do such a thing).

I created the pocket to have those thank you notes close at hand. I kept the colors fairly neutral, so I can move this pocket to other months should the need arise. I began by die cutting two of the largest Binder Page shapes, one from Fresh Snow Linen and the other from Polka Dot Soft Stone. I trimmed the Soft Stone down a bit and adhered the two together, using extra strips of patterned paper along the sides to create a very slight gusset. I like that I have a tiny bit of wiggle room that way.

I also added a tab using the Moments Inked: Divided Die and an image and sentiment from Moments Inked: Everyday Symbols. Not only is the tab cute, but it has the added benefit of sticking out just enough to make it easy to find the pocket when I want to flip right to it.

I kept the cards nice and simple, both so I could create a batch of them fairly quickly, but also because the flatter they are, the better they fit into my planner. I used Background Basics: Galaxy again, this time paired with the Noted: Scalloped A1 Die Collection. I've always liked this size for thank you notes. It's plenty of space to jot a nice note, but not so much space that you feel like you have to be Tolstoy to fill it.

I like this little set up so much that I think I just might have to get something similar ready for Christmas. It's coming sooner than you think!

Release In Review

Good morning, friends! Today is the wrap up for the July Papertrey Ink Countdown and I have a few additional projects to share featuring the new goodies from this month's release. Let's get to it!

First up, I have a card I created with the latest in Betsy's Paper Clippings series, Paper Clippings: Done With Love.

I started by xyroning and die cutting three of the large heart cover plate shapes. Next I stamped the sentiment into the appropriate place using Limeade Ice and Simply Chartreuse inks. I stamped a few select flowers with Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise inks before adding shimmer with a clear Spica pen.

Next I stamped and die cut the "in" heart using Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy inks. I layered the three large hearts together and then attached the small heart with a bit of foam tape. I sponged and splattered a bit of Aqua Mist ink onto a white card base before adhering the heart into place.

Next, I have a wedding card I made with Maile's Splits: Best Wishes set.

I began die cutting and heat embossing the Splits image onto white cardstock. I colored the leaves with a colored pencil and added the sentiment in Stormy Sea ink. Then I sponged Pale Peony ink onto the back of a piece of bitty dot Sheer Basics vellum. Once it was dry, I die cut it with the new Cover Plate: Scallops die.

I layered that onto a white card base and used foam adhesive under the Splits shape to adhere both into place. Next, I colored several rhinestones in varying sizes with a Copic marker. I adhered those over the "berries" on the Splits frame for a card with tons of sparkle.

Next in line is a card featuring Betsy's new Inspired: Prayer set.

I began by die cutting and stamping flowers and leaves from Dawn's Floral Sketches set onto white cardstock. Next, I sponged a bit of Spring Rain ink onto a panel of white cardstock before die cutting a circle out of the interior (it's not centered; it's off to the right a bit). I placed that over a white card base and then stamped my sentiment in the opening.

I added texture to that panel with the Woodgrain Impression Plate before attaching it to the card base with foam tape. Finally, I arranged the die cut flowers and leaves around the left side of the circle with a mix of flat and foam adhesives.

And last but not least I have a card pairing Dawn's It's The Thought with Betsy's Dress Up Dolls: Rainy Day.

I began by stamping, coloring, and die cutting the images from the Rainy Day set. Then, I stamped a white panel with images from So Striking and Watercolor Wonder to create a mini scene. I added the sentiment from Dawn's new set in Pure Poppy before attaching the panel to a Soft Stone card base that I had embellished with a strip of striped Soft Stone patterned paper.

Next, I adhered the umbrella and galoshes into place before adding a sprinkling of Sunshine & Rainbows sequins.

Wanderlust Inspirations

Good morning, friends! It's Day 5 of the Papertrey Ink July Countdown and today we're sharing new products from Heather and Betsy that you can use for all of your memory keeping needs. I love to travel and at the end of my journeys I always have little odds and ends to complement my memories. This new travel collection that Heather has designed is perfect for creating mini books to keep both safely in one place. And the super cute map mini set that Betsy has created is such a charming complement! Let's get on to some projects, shall we?

Let's begin by taking a look at Heather's Travelers' Journal collection.

I created the outer cover for my little book with faux leather designer paper. The paper is a little on the thin side, so I lined the inside with cardstock and it looks like a mini journal you might pick up in a boutique. I love it!

I embellished the cover with a bit of heat embossing and wood veneer paper. The sentiment is from the new Traveler's Journal: Adventure and the die cut word is part of the Traveler's Journal: Outer Cover Die. I used black Traveler's Journal Elastic Cord to bind the cover and create a closure.

Inside the cover is a mini book I put together about a recent trip to Tennessee. I created a cover for the mini book from Green Parakeet cardstock. I stamped the cover with the What The Doodle: Map image and layered on a Number The Stars Banner shape as a base for a die cut Tennessee. I added the dates of the trip with Type Strips letters and numbers. The sentiments are from Traveler's Journal: Typed Notes set. I filled the cover with handy, pre-cut Traveler's Journal Pages. I'm still working on the book, but I have a few spreads to share with you.

Inside the front cover I have a Traveler's Journal Envelope. It's the perfect size for hanging onto small, flat trinkets from trips (like ticket stubs) or photos yet-to-be added to the book. The first page features a single large photo and some journaling I printed onto vellum. The ticket embellishment is from Traveler's Journal: Adventure and the sentiment is from Traveler's Journal: Typed Notes.

On the next spread I have a photo that I've framed with the square from the Traveler's Journal: Outer Cover Die. I printed, die cut, and stitched on the caption before adhering the frame into place. On the next page I colored a piece of What The Doodle: Map patterned paper and used it for my background. I added more journaling on vellum along with a photo and die cut sentiment. I chose to keep my coloring spare so it wouldn't compete with the photos too much.

The next spread has more colored What The Doodle paper and another die cut sentiment from the Traveler's Journal: Outer Cover Die. The small, typed sentiments on the first page are from the Traveler's Journal: Typed Notes set. On the next page I used images from Traveler's Journal: Adventure to embellish my photo. I have stitched vellum journaling on both pages.

I'm not much of a scrapbooker, so my layouts are fairly simple. But that's what's so great about this collection that Heather has designed. Even if you don't do much scrapbooking, she makes it a snap!

Next up, I have a card using What The Doodle: Map and Traveler's Journal: Adventure.

I started by stamping the What The Doodle: Map image and coloring it with Copic markers. I love all of the little details in this image! I die cut the map and embellished with a bit of Clear Spica pen on the waterways and snowcaps. Next, I die cut a frame from Pure Poppy + White patterned paper and adhered it to a Classic Kraft card base that I stamped with one of the circular sentiment images from Traveler's Journal: Adventure.

I added my map to the center of the frame with foam tape. I die cut a white banner using the new Number The Stars Banner Die and stamped it with sentiments from Traveler's Journal: Adventure and What The Doodle: Map before tucking it in there next to Florida. Cute! I can't wait to use this card to invite my husband on an adventure.

Finally this morning, I have one more Favor It: Star Box project to share. I thought this box would make a great holiday ornament and I'm happy to report that it works beautifully.

I began by die cutting the box from Pure Poppy + White patterned paper and assembling largely as normal. The only difference is that I pulled a loop of white crochet thread through the top point before sealing it up tight.

I embellished the box with greenery from Spruce & Sprigs, a banner from Bountiful Banners, and a sentiment from Holiday Lights. I used sponging to give the greenery depth and gold embossing to add a bit of shine.

Summertime Inspirations

Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to Day 4 of the Papertrey Ink July Countdown! Today is group post number two and today is all about the tropics.

The tropics are totally on trend right now so the new sets we're introducing today couldn't be more in vogue! But in customary Papertrey style, these images are classic and clever and sure to be fresh for many years to come. Let's look at these projects in a little more detail, shall we?

I began with this Missing You card using Maile's new Tropics set. I couldn't wait to try some sponging techniques on those leaves!

I started by stamping the leaves onto a white cardstock panel using Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Limeade Ice, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, and Pinefeather inks. I blended the colors on the stamps before making my impression in order to get varying levels of depth. Then I used the Sentiment Splits: Angle Vertical die to cut the panel into two pieces.

I heat embossed a sentiment from Keep It Simple: Missing You onto a Green Parakeet card base in the void between the two pieces. Then I attached the leafy pieces to the card base with foam tape and embellished with a crochet thread bow and some sequins from the Rainbows & Sprinkles Make It Market Kit. Nice and simple!

Next up is the retirement card that I created by pairing Tropics with Nichole's Some Like It Hot set.

I began by stamping and die cutting the flamingo. I used Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, and just a touch of Pure Poppy to achieve his color. I set him aside while I worked on the card base. First, I die cut a circle from Green Parakeet cardstock and used that as a template. Then, I created the little ocean scene by sponging some Aqua Mist ink onto a white card base before stamping my palms into place. The water was created by sponging Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal inks onto a Background Basics: Woodgrain strip.

I stamped the tribal sketch image around the circumference of the die cut circle before adhering that panel into place. I mounted my flamingo into place with foam tape before tucking in a Number The Stars Banner shape that I'd stamped with a sentiment from Just A Number. I also attached a "happy" that I'd die cut from Hawaiian Shores cardstock sponged with Tropical Teal ink. I love how this one came together!

Finally today I have one more card for you featuring Number The Stars and Background Basics: Galaxy.

I started by sponging Enchanted Evening ink onto a piece of Spring Rain cardstock. Once that was completely dry, I heat embossed the outline stars from Background Basics: Galaxy using gold powder. Next, I cut a slightly offset frame of white cardstock using one of the Double Ups: Rectangle dies.

I adhered both to a white card base, tucking a gold embossed sentiment banner in there, too. Next, I stamped the baby from Bundle Of Love onto a scrap of white cardstock and colored her with Copic markers. I trimmed her out and added her to the tip of the sentiment banner with foam adhesive. Nice and simple!
