August Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 5

Welcome back for Day 5 of the August Papertrey Ink Countdown! This is my last day to share projects for this month's release and I have just a few more featuring the Tiny Take Out Box and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. Let's get going!

The first ensemble I have today is a little fella's birthday set.

I started with the box. I wanted to try creating a fabric box. I tried fabric with interfacing, but that wasn't quite sturdy enough. I tried laminating the fabric onto a piece of cardstock and that worked perfectly!

I die cut and assembled my box before cutting slits along the score lines on the short sides. Then, I slipped ribbon through the slits to create mini basket handles. From there I die cut and colored the rocket from Boy Basics Out Of This World set.

I embellished my rocket window with a bit of glitter for some sparkle and strips of crimped Harvest Gold patterned paper as flames. Then, I die cut a Countdown Details shape and stamped it with a sentiment from Faux Ribbon. Those pieces were then adhered to my box with Scor Tape.

Next I worked on my coordinating card.

I started by texturing a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate and adhered it to a white base. Then I die cut a circle from Harvest Gold patterned paper and die cut a number 3 from the resulting shape. It's a little moon! I stamped "happy" on the moon using the Simple Alphabet and adhered it to my textured card front.

Then, I die cut the long banner strip from the Get A Handle On It Die Collection and cut one of the Birthday Trio Dies from that. That birthday banner was mounted to the card front with foam tape. Finally I die cut, colored, and embellished a second rocket and mounted that to the card with more foam tape and rounded the bottom corners.

My final project of this release is a very simple sympathy card.

I began by stamping the stems, leaves, and blooms for the flowers onto Rustic White cardstock. Then, I die cut and stamped a second bloom onto more Rustic White cardstock. I stamped my sentiment over the flower stems and textured the card front with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate.

I deliberately didn't use my shim when I added the texture to ensure that it would be slightly more subtle on this card. I rounded the corners and mounted the extra bloom to the card front with foam tape. The last step was embellishing the bloom centers with small pearls.

Thank you for joining me over the past several days! Make sure to visit with NicholeAshleyBetsyCristinaDawnErinHeather, JessMaileMelissa, and Melissa to see sneak peeks of this month's new releases. See you soon!

August Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 4

Welcome back to Day 4 of the August Papertrey Ink Countdown! Thank you all for your enthusiasm for the Tiny Take Out Box and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate! I can't wait to see how you all use it. In the meantime, I have a few more projects to share with you today.

The first couple of projects are part of a little Halloweeny ensemble.

I started with the treat box this time. I wanted to try cutting the box from something other than paper, so I tried some felt. I tried both regular felt and stiffened felt and found that the stiffened felt worked significantly better.

I die cut my box from stiffened black glitter felt and assembled it with Scor Tape. You could probably use hot glue if you were concerned about the durability of the tape, but it's been holding just fine. A tip about using eco felt with your Papertrey dies: use a sheet of scrap paper between your cutting plate and your felt to allow the die to really cut into something. It greatly reduces the number of tricky areas that need to be trimmed with scissors.

Next, I die cut and stamped my Mr. Bones and a sentiment flag from Countdown Details. I adhered both to my felt box with Scor Tape. The glitter in the felt gives the project just enough glitz.

The card came next.

I began by stamping a white card base with Lemon Tart polka dots and adhered on a strip of Canyon Clay that had been textured with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. Then, I trapped the base with black jute and tied a bow before setting it aside. Next, I die cut a Mat Stack #3 Layerz die from Smoky Shadow cardstock. I stamped and embossed that shape with a sentiment and stamped it with the stitched background from Background Basics: Retro.

Then, I die cut and stamped a second Mr. Bones and two treat bags (those were hand cut). I colored the Ripe Avocado (old formula) pumpkin with Copics, adhered it to the True Black bag, and added a string handle to the bag. I then mounted both Mr. Bones and the bag to my Mat Stack shape and adhered it to my base with foam tape.

My final card today is a little "missing you" number for my fella. He left yesterday for a work trip that's going to keep him out of town for a long-ish while. The house already seems too quiet and I'm missing his company. I thought making him a card would be a nice way to pass the time.

I started by faux letterpressing a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock using Fresh Snow ink and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate (just tap the ink pad onto the plate before embossing). The results aren't as perfect as actual stamping, but I love the way the ink shadows give the panel added interest. Also, I like doing this technique best with pigment inks; they're thicker and they tend to stay on the plates better than die inks. I adhered that panel to a white card base and wrapped the base with Simply Chartreuse ribbon and white cotton twine.

Next, I die cut a Half & Half shape from Soft Stone cardstock and stamped the bottom edge with the grassy image from Love Lives Here. Then, I die cut and stamped the fence from Little Bitty Bird Additions and added the same grass detail along the bottom edge. I mounted the fence to the Half & Half strip and stamped my sentiment. I then die cut and stamped my bird. I stamped legs for the bird using the "x" image from Handle With Care and mounted my bird overtop with foam tape. The focal point was then added to the card front with more foam tape.

I hope you've enjoyed today's projects! I'll be back tomorrow with a few more projects for you. Today and tomorrow are Group Post days, so make sure to check in with Nichole, AshleyBetsy, Cristina, DanielleDawnErinHeather, Jess, Maile, Melissa, and Melissa to see sneak peeks of this month's new releases. Papertrey Ink August Countdown - Day 3

Hello again and welcome back for Day 3 of the August Papertrey Ink Countdown! The Rustic Burlap Impression Plate and Tiny Take Out Box are getting another great workout today. Let's get on to the projects!

This first butterfly ensemble is a little gift and card for a friend.

I started with my card. I began by impressing a panel of Aqua Mist cardstock with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate and adhered that to a white base before rounding the corners.

Next, I stamped and embossed a sentiment from Bountiful Banners onto a piece of Berry Sorbet cardstock. That was then matted with a scalloped piece of Linen Vellum and adhered to the card front. Then, I wrapped the base with yellow baker's twine and tied a sweet little bow.

Next, I die cut the butterfly from Linen Vellum and stamped it with a coordinating image from Butterfly Kisses. I scored the center of the butterfly and adhered it to a circle that had been stamped with an image from Modern Wood Mats. The woodgrain circle was then mounted to the front of the card with foam tape.

Next up was the little butterfly box. I die cut the box from Berry Sorbet patterned paper and got it all assembled (poking holes in the two short sides). Then, I created a ribbon handle by adhering a 1/2" strip of Lemon Tart cardstock to a strip of saddle-stitched ribbon that I'd trimmed with pinking shears. The cardstock gives the ribbon some sturdiness white the ribbon adds a nice softness and texture to the project. I  used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes at the ends of the handle and attached the handle to the box with brads. Then, I die cut a second butterfly from Linen Vellum and stamped it with the same image from Butterfly Kisses. I adhered the butterfly to the handle with a bit of Scor Tape.

And inside is a surprise...mini spools of baker's twine to share with a crafty friend! The box holds four spools comfortably, possibly five depending on how fully you wrap your spools. What an adorable way to share supplies!

My final card today is a thinking of you card.

I started by stamping the leafy pattern on a piece of Rustic White cardstock. I did the stamped off leaves first and then went through and added the full-strength leaves as a second step. Then I die cut a circle from the stamped panel and textured it with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. The leafy panel was then adhered to a Kraft card base and the large acorn from Autumn Acorns was stamped in the opening.

I die cut and stamped a smaller acorn and mounted that to the base with a bit of foam tape. Then I created a folded banner on Fine Linen cardstock using Ripe Avocado and Classic Kraft (polka dots on the back) inks. I adhered it to the card front and embellished the ends with tiny circles of Dark Chocolate cardstock covered in dark brown Stickles.

I hope you've enjoyed today's projects. I'll be back tomorrow with a few more projects featuring the Tiny Take Out Box and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. In the meantime, make sure to check in with NicholeBetsyDawnErinHeatherMaile, and Melissa for even more inspiration. See you tomorrow!

August Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 2

Welcome back, everyone! I'm so glad to hear that you're all enjoying the Tiny Take Out Box and Rustic Burlap Impression Plate (both available August 15th). I have a few more projects to share with you today, so let's get to it!

My first project today is a little Thanksgiving ensemble.

This little decorated box could be used as place cards (full of after-dinner treats) on your holiday table. They would dress up your table and the boxes go together so easily that it would take no time at all! For today I've chosen to stamp my pumpkins with a sentiment from Autumn Acorns, but it could just as easily be a stamped or handwritten name.

I started my box by stamping a piece of Spring Moss cardstock with a plaid pattern from the new Autumn Pattern Pieces stamp set. Then I die cut and assembled my box. Next I stamped my pumpkin (using the rock & roll technique to get some color variation) and hand trimmed it out with detail scissors.

I adhered the pumpkin to the box flap, giving the tab enough space to slide into the slot on the opposite flap. This way the box doesn't have to be torn apart when your recipient goes to open it. Yay!

On the coordinating card, I started by stamping the same plaid pattern onto a strip of Spring Moss cardstock. Then, I punched out four squares of Dark Chocolate cardstock and textured them with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate.

I adhered the patterned panel of cardstock to a Kraft base stamped with a Thanksgiving sentiment from Autumn Acorns. The textured squares were then mounted atop the patterned panel. Next, I stamped and trimmed out my pumpkin and added it to the card with mounting tape. I finished the card by rounding the bottom corners.

My last project today is an anniversary card pairing Happiness In Bloom and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate.

I started by creating a frame by die cutting a Mat Stack 1 Layerz shape from Berry Sorbet cardstock. I cut a window in the center using a Limitless Layers 2 1/4" Oval Die and then textured the frame with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. I then die cut a second Mat Stack 1 Layerz shape from white cardstock and stamped it with my sentiment ("Happy" from Happiness In Bloom, "Anniversary" from Pretty Peonies).

Next, I stamped my leaves onto a Spring Moss card front using Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado inks. Then, I masked the leaves and stamped my polka dots in Fresh Snow ink before mounting my framed sentiment to my card base. I then die cut the largest flower in the Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection and stamped it with the coordinating image from Happiness In Bloom. I went over the Berry Sorbet ink layer with a glue pad and embellished the surface with glitter. Once that had dried, I stitched on a white button and mounted it to my card using foam tape. I love the contrast of the linear pattern of the Rustic Burlap Impression plate against the playful polka dots!

Well, that's all I have for you today. I hope you'll join me tomorrow as I share more projects with these great new items. In the meantime, make sure to check in with NicholeBetsyDawnErinHeatherMaile, Melissa, and Melissa for even more inspiration. See you tomorrow!

Introducing The Tiny Take Out Box & The Rustic Burlap Impression Plate

Good morning, Friends, and welcome to the first day of the Papertrey Ink August Release Countdown! I actually don't have any stamps to share with you this month, but I do have a couple of great new items that I'm excited to share. I'll be bringing you projects featuring the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate and the Tiny Take Out Box Die for the next several days. I can't wait to show you what I've been up to! Let's get going, shall we?

First up I have a pretty little birthday ensemble that includes a coordinating gift, card, and packaging.

I started by die cutting the Tiny Take Out Box shape from a piece of Harvest Gold patterned paper. This box goes together so easily! A few small strips of tape and you're good to go. I embellished my box with a band of Simply Chartreuse saddle-stitched ribbon and a die cut felt flower. The leaf is a die shape from the Happiness In Bloom Die Collection that I stamped with a sentiment from Friendship Jar. A small Harvest Gold button rounds out the details of the box.

Next, I made the barrettes. I die cut the parts from Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold, and Vintage Cream felt and stitched them together in a jif. I was so excited when I discovered the barrettes fit perfectly into the box (at an angle)! The box may seem small, but it will hold all sorts of wonderful things; about 1/2 cup of candy, lip balm, craft items...so many great options (I'll be sharing a few more of them with you in the next few days).

I knew I wanted a card to coordinate with my gift, so I set about creating one.

I started by stamping my leaves and sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock and stitching on a felt flower. Next I die cut a piece of Simply Chartreuse cardstock with the small scalloped border die and gave it some texture with the new Rustic Burlap Impression Plate.

I adhered the white piece to the textured border piece and tied the panel with a bit of baker's twine. I mounted that focal piece to a card base with a bit of foam tape. Cute, easy, and it makes a lovely package.

My second project today is an Autumnal thank you card.

I started by texturing the front of my card base with the new Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. While true burlap is fabulous, this plate is a nice (flat, bulk-less) alternative to using actual thing. Next, I stamped my tree and sentiment onto Rustic White cardstock using a combination of Dark Chocolate, Canyon Clay, and Terracotta Tile inks. I used the Rick & Roll technique on the leaves to give them extra depth (I inked the Canyon Clay first and then just rolled the Terracotta Tile on the edges).

Next, I created a grassy, rolling hill by using the In The Meadow snowdrift die with Ripe Avocado cardstock. I stamped the woodgrain pattern with watermark ink to look like grass. I gave my card base a saddle-stitched ribbon/twine treatment and mounted my focal point pieces to the base using foam tape. Another super-simple card completed.

Thank you for checking in with me today! I have plenty more to share with you in the coming days, so be sure to check back. In the meantime make sure to check in with NicholeBetsyCristinaDawnErinHeather, Maile, and Melissa for even more inspiration. See you tomorrow!

August Color Play

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the August Papertrey Ink Color Play! This month I've chosen a photo that reminds me of all of the beautiful produce available right now. I am so inspired by the vibrant colors at my local farmers market and I knew when I saw this photo that it would be perfect for a Color Play feature.

Just look at those colors! Aren't they gorgeous? The beets, tomatoes, and greens are so wonderfully earthy!

To start, I die cut the scalloped circle, small circle, wine tag, and leaves from Rustic White cardstock. The wine tag was also cut from Limeade Ice. I stamped my flower using Scarlet Jewel (stamped off once for the petals and at full strength for the detail) and Summer Sunrise (the circle was stamped off once and the small flower was added at full strength). I used stamping off here to give my flower a bit of extra visual texture. The leaves were stamped using New Leaf ink. Next, I stamped my polka dots onto my wine tag with Limeade Ice ink. Then, I trimmed down the sides of the tag ever so slightly so that there would be a thin border when the two wine tags were layered.

I stamped my sentiment and the whole wine tag bonanza was adhered to a woodgrain-impressed Kraft base. I adhered my leafy branches to the wine tag and curved their ends upward for a little dimension. The flower was mounted with foam tape as was the flower center. To finish the card, I added three rhinestones (colored to match with a Copic marker) in varying sizes to the flower's center. That's all for me and this month's Color Play. I hope you'll try out the palette for yourself and share your project over on the Papertrey Ink Challenge forum! Until next time...
