Introducing Text & Texture: Ocean, Reef Builder Dies, And Shape Shifters: Oval II

Good morning, friends! The Papertrey Ink team is back at it again, this time with Betsy's new Text & Texture: Ocean stamp set, Reef Builder Dies, and Shape Shifters: Oval II die. These new additions perfectly complement the Salt Air collection that we debuted yesterday. If you're a big fan of sea life, this is your month!

I've created two cards to share with you today. First up, I wanted to show you how you can use these new products to breathe new life into older sets you might already have on hand. For example, I used the Text & Texture: Ocean set to create a background for one of the lighthouses from the Guiding Lights set.

I began by sponging a very light coat of Spring Rain ink onto a piece of white cardstock. Then I stamped the waves in Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening inks. I die cut those with a Noted: Simply Stitched panel and then matted it with another piece of white cardstock.

Next, I stamped and die cut my lighthouse and adhered it to the wave panel using foam tape. Then, I heat embossed the sentiment from Sentiment Staples: Sending You onto an Enchanted Evening strip that I trimmed at an angle. I stamped the companion sentiment onto the feature panel before adhering that strip into place with foam tape.

Then, I simply adhered the feature panel to a Soft Stone card base. I wanted to keep this design really simple and gender neutral so you could send it to anyone. It's nice to have a handful of versatile notes on hand for those unexpected occasions.

Next up, I've paired the Reef Builder dies with Shape Shifters: Oval to create another more masculine or gender neutral thank you card.

I began by sponging a deep water ombre using Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening, and Dark Indigo onto a piece of Rustic White cardstock. I splattered it with clean water, Pearl Glimmer Mist, and Copic Opaque White Pigment to incorporate as much texture as possible.

I adhered that to a Classic Kraft card base and set it aside. Next, I die cut the patterned center Shape Shifters: Oval II window from a Rustic White card front. I stamped that panel with Corner Adorner: April using Fine Linen and Classic Kraft inks to look like sand before adhering that to the card base with foam tape.

Then, I die cut my coral and ocean plants. I sponged each piece to give them a bit of dimension before adhering them to the card front with flat and foam adhesives. I heat embossed another Sentiment Staples: Sending You greeting onto a kraft banner and adhered it to the card front, hiding the end underneath the kelp. Like I mentioned before, I did my best to keep this card fairly masculine. Gents like the ocean too, friends.

That's all I have to share for today. I'll be back in a couple of days with more of this month's release. In the meantime, Amy, Betsy, Dawn, Heather, KellyLaurie, Melissa B, Melissa P, Michelle, and Stephanie all have projects to share with you. Have a great day and I'll see you soon!

  1. Love everything about your lighthouse card, Lizzie. The ocean stamp adds a vastness to the card the pairs so well with the hope and comfort sentiment, which is probably why you chose it. (When I send out a hope and comfort card, the situation usually feels overwhelming and neverending at that time.) And that lighthouse is just timeless.

  2. Like the layered corals! Also like the way you used the oval for an inset!
