Release In Review

Good morning, friends, and welcome back for this month's Papertrey Ink wrap up. I have shared all sorts of crafty goodness with you over the past several days, but there's still a few goodies hiding up my sleeve. Let's take a gander at the last but not least!

First up, I have a very simple card featuring Betsy's new Phrases & Praises set. I wanted the sentiment to be the star of the show, so I intentionally kept the design minimal.

This Is The Day Card

I began by heat embossing the sentiment onto a piece of the Walk In The Park patterned paper pad. I thought the rays behind the sentiment were the perfect pairing. I adhered that panel to a Fresh Snow Linen card base and rounded the bottom corners.

This Is The Day Close Up

It felt a little flat, so I added a handful of die cut clouds to give the card a bit of dimension. I love that the sentiment truly take center stage on such a clean design.

Next up, I paired Winter Woods with Dawn's new Tucked In: Sympathy set for a soft sympathy card.

Here For You Card

I began by stamping the sentiment in Pinefeather ink onto a white card base. I masked off the edges of the card before stamping the pine boughs in second generation Ocean Tides and Stormy Sea inks. I added a few berries, also second generation, in Autumn Rose.

Here For You Close Up

Next, I die cut a circle from a panel of white cardstock. I textured that panel with the Woodgrain Impression Plate before adhering it to the card front with foam tape. I tend to use nature imagery for sympathy cards and these pine branches are such a lovely option to have on hand. They're wonderful with or without their fine feathered counterparts.

And last of all I have a Christmas card featuring Heather's Monthly Moments: Mini Slide Frame set and Nichole's Type Strips III set.

Peace Love & Joy Card

I began by die cutting and stamping the figures from Winter Snow Globe. I colored them with Copic markers and set them aside. Then I die cut three of the slide frames and stamped them with the starburst patterned coordinating image in Spring Moss ink. I used them as mini windows for my Snow Globe figures, tucking the little characters into their openings.

Peace Love & Joy Close Up

Next, I die cut the Type Strip shape from Spring Moss cardstock and stamped it with one of the alphabets in Ripe Avocado ink. I trimmed out the letters I needed and arranged them on a white card base, popping a Grand Ampersand sentiment in there to round out the message. I added my framed Christmas characters with foam tape and then embellished them with a mix of Crystal glitter, Glossy Accents, and a mini pom pom. Cute!

And that's all she wrote on the November countdown (at least for now)! I hope you've enjoyed visiting me these past few days. Make sure to check in with Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Heather, Kay, Laurie, and Melissa for another round of inspiring projects showcasing this month's new releases. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll see you again soon!

Celebration Inspiration

Good morning, everyone, and welcome back to Day 5 of the Papertrey Ink November countdown. Today's group post is all about birthdays! Everyone loves a festive birthday celebration! The new stamps and dies we're sharing today are totally fabulous and simply perfect for creating cards, tags, and packages that will delight folks of all ages. Hold on to your party hats, everybody! This is going to be super fun!

I have two ensembles to share with you today. Let's start with the bold girlie set.

Confetti Present Ensemble

The pink, black, and gold color palette of this gift set makes me so happy. How about we take a closer look at the card first.

Confetti Present Card

I began by creating a shaker with the Enclosed: Present dies. I stamped the solid backer piece with assorted confetti dots and trimmed the "for you" from the top die before assembling the present. I added a gold foil bow to the top of the box before adhering it to a True Black card front that I had textured with the Sunrise Impressions 2 Impression Plate.

Confetti Present Close Up

The sentiment, from Birthday Cheer, was gold embossed on the card front and the gold foil die cut word was added to the gift box. It's simple, but thanks to that color combo, it packs a nice punch.

Next up is the coordinating tag.

Confetti Present Gift Tag

I followed similar steps for the tag, but I left the die cuts in tact for this one. I didn't make the tag a shaker, deciding instead to attach the gift to an Enclosed: Basic Folded Tag die cut.

Confetti Present Tag Interior

I stamped the inside with the sentiment and "to:/from:" from Enclosed: Present and punched a hole to allow for a tie-on string.

The second ensemble is a little bit more colorful, but still just as festive.

Celebrate Birthday Ensemble

Let's look at the gift box on this set first.

Confetti Pillow Box

I stamped a confetti pattern onto Fresh Snow Linen cardstock before die cutting the pillow box. I then die cut one of the Scene It: Celebration shapes from additional Fresh Snow cardstock. I stamped it with the coordinating star images before attaching it to a Tropical Teal circle that I'd heat embossed with the Keep It Simple: Birthday II sentiment. I attached it to the assembled pillow box. Easy peasy!

The coordinating card was just as simple.

Celebrate With Style Card

I began by die cutting the Birthday Cheer word from a sheet of my new Confetti Toss Patterned Paper. I then cut a second "Celebrate" from Harvest Gold cardstock and inlaid that into the patterned paper. I heat embossed the companion sentiment onto a Tropical Teal card base before adhering the patterned paper/sentiment layer with foam tape.

Celebrate With Style Close Up

Then I went over the printed confetti pattern and embellished with glitter and Glossy Accents. I love the shine and sparkle of the embellishments!

That's all for me today. I hope you enjoy today's group post. Make sure to check in with Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Danielle, DawnHeather, Kay, Laurie, Melissa, Erin, and Maile for more of this month's fabulous release. See you tomorrow with the November wrap-up. Have a great day!

Petite Places Through The Seasons

Good morning, friends, and welcome back for Day 4 of the Papertrey Ink November countdown! Today is all about Petite Places. One of the most wonderful things about the Petite Places collection is that they can all work together to create charming projects with ease. The new Walk In The Park addition is perfect for adding seasonal style to your cards with a simple color swap. I've already fallen in love and I'm sure you will, too!

For today's assignment we were asked to come up with one basic card design that could be adjusted a little here and there to represent each of the different seasons. Let's take a closer look at each card!

Here's my Spring card:

Petite Places Spring Card

I used the little brick building from Petite Places Main Street for all four of the cards, but I added extra details from other sets to change things up a bit from card to card. On this one I stamped my building in Canyon Clay and added an Ocean Tides door (it's the same on all four). The flowering bush and tree are new additions from the Petite Places: Walk In The Park set. I used Limeade Ice, Berry Sorbet, and Dark Chocolate on those pieces.

Petite Places Spring Close Up

I stamped the floral cart with Berry Sorbet, Dark Chocolate, and Harvest Gold inks. The sentiment and flower shop sign are stamped in Dark Chocolate. The road was created by stamping a strip from Plaid Builder in Stormy Sea and trimming it out with an xacto. I sponged Aqua Mist ink on the card front before adhering the pieces into place and I added a strip of striped Berry Sorbet patterned paper to the bottom edge of the card for a pop of color.

Next up is the Summer version:

Petite Places Summer Card

On this one, the sponging was done in Spring Rain. The bistro chairs and signage are from the Petite Places: Main Street set and were stamped in Dark Chocolate ink.

Petite Places Summer Close Up

The tree and leafy bush are stamped in Ripe Avocado and Dark Chocolate inks. The sentiment was stamped in Ripe Avocado with a patterned paper strip to match.

On to Autumn:

Petite Places Autumn Card

How about a coffee shop to go with the cooler temps? I sponged this background with Ocean Tides. The signage and scooter are from Petite Places: Main Street and they're stamped in Dark Chocolate, Harvest Gold, and Summer Sunrise inks.

Petite Places Autumn Close Up

This time around, I rolled the bush and tree in Harvest Gold and Summer Sunrise and added a swatch of Summer Sunrise patterned paper.

And finally Winter:

Petite Places Winter Card

I got a little more detailed on the background of this one, sponging in Stormy Sea and adding Confetti Toss snow flurries. I stamped my dots with a glue pad and added Carerra Marble glitter (though Heat & Stick powder would have worked too). I dressed up my building with signage from Petite Places Sweet Shoppe and flowers (I'm choosing to think of them as poinsettias) from Petite Places: Main Street.

Petite Places Winter Close Up

I added a Christmas tree and snowman from Petite Places: Holiday Lane and the light post from Petite Places: Walk In The Park to round out the scene. The patterned paper strip on this version was cut from Pinefeather ink to match the Christmas tree. I'm totally smitten with this little series of cards!

Lastly today I have a Confetti Toss card to share with you. I actually just used the patterned paper to make things nice and easy.

Special Birthday Card

I began by stamping a Stylish Sentiments: Birthday onto the patterned paper panel. I heat embossed that with Liquid Platinum embossing powder for a touch of metallic shine. Next, I stamped the streamers from Hooray onto white cardstock in Hibiscus Burst, Harvest Gold, and Sweet Blush inks before fussy cutting them by hand. I attached those to the card front, overlapping and weaving them together a bit.

Special Birthday Close Up

I die cut a Birthday Bash balloon and stamped it in Aqua Mist with one of the coordinating images. Then, I die cut a string and bow from Linen Vellum using the Balloon Strings die and attached those to the balloon. I adhered the balloon to the card front with foam tape and embellished the knot on the bow with a self-adhesive pearl for good measure.

That's all for me today. It's group post day though, so you have plenty of inspiration to see when you visit Nichole, Amy, Ashley, BetsyDanielle, Dawn, Heather, Kay, Laurie, Melissa, Erin, and Maile's blogs today. I'll see you back here tomorrow with even more to share. Have a great day, everyone!

Introducing Winter Woods (and more Confetti Toss)

Good morning, friends, and welcome back to Day 3 of the Papertrey Ink November countdown! Today is the first group post of this month and we're featuring a set by Nichole called Winter Woods. We just so happen to live in the woods, so this set is right up my alley! I think I love the birds most in the winter because they add cheerful activity and color to a largely gray landscape. Winter Woods gave me a great, big smile as soon as I took it out of the box. I'm sure this is a set I'll be using time and again for a very long time. Let's get to a couple of projects!

As soon as I saw the cardinal I couldn't wait to use it on a card (it is the state bird of Ohio after all), so that was the first bird I'm sharing with you today.

Just A Note Card

I began by stamping a Stormy Sea card base with Confetti Toss dots to look like snowflakes (they're great as raindrops, too). I heat embossed the first round and then stamped Fresh Snow dots to fill in a bit. I layered the base with the new Cover Plate: Winter Woods die cut from Soft Stone cardstock. I stamped the birch trunks with texture lines in Fresh Snow before adhering it to the card front.

Just A Note Close Up

Next, I die cut the snow drifts using the In The Meadow Die Collection and stamped my sentiment in Stormy Sea on the front drift. I textured those with the Woodgrain Impression Plate and glittered their edges before attaching them to the card front with flat and foam adhesives. I then die cut and stamped the cardinal with Pure Poppy and True Black inks and adhered him to the birch branch with foam tape. He still looked a little flat though, so I added a black rhinestone to make his eye really sparkle.

Next up, is a birthday card. Nature motifs are some of my favorites for men's cards and this set truly lends itself well to more masculine designs.

Birthday Bluejay Card

I began by die cutting two of the pine boughs from Rustic White cardstock and stamping them with their coordinating images in Pinefeather and Stormy Sea inks. I then stamped the snowflakes from Fab Flakes in Spring Rain (full strength and 2nd generation) onto a Rustic White card base. I stamped the sentiment from Winter Woods in Pinefeather ink and adhered my branches into place on the card front. The bough below the bluejay is adhered with flat adhesive and the second branch is adhered with two layers of foam tape (I thought the extra depth made it look a little more like you were peeking through branches and happened upon a bird).

Birthday Bluejay Close Up

Then, I die cut and stamped the bluejay in Blueberry Sky and True Black inks. I adhered him to his branch with foam tape and added a teeny, tiny dot of Glossy Accents to his eye. Nothing too girlie about this card.

My third and final card for today is showcases Confetti Toss.

Confetti Hello Card

I began by impressing the "hello" die into a white card base. Then, I die cut the same shape from a post it note and used that to mask off the impressed area. I drew an oval around the word to give me a guideline and then went about stamping my confetti pattern in Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Canyon Clay, and Terra Cotta Tile inks.

Confetti Hello Close Up

Once I was finished with my stamping, I removed the mask and embellished the Terra Cotta Tile dots with Glossy Accents. This card could be done in so many color combos or with other die cut words for the sentiment (though, I would suggest sticking with bolder fonts and shorter words for easier legibility).

Thank you all so much for stopping by today! I'll be back with more of this month's release tomorrow, but you can visit Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Danielle, Dawn, Heather, Kay, Laurie, Melissa, Erin, and Maile for more inspiration. Have a great day, everyone!

Confetti Toss - Day 2

Good morning, friends! Welcome back to Day 2 of Papertrey Ink's November countdown. I am so happy to hear about your excitement for Confetti Toss! It's going to be a fun one, folks! How about we get take a peek at two more cards featuring these stamps and papers?

Let's start with a card featuring one of the papers in the patterned paper collection. A note about the patterned papers, by the way: I used the images from the stamp set to create the patterns - no flipping or scaling or anything - so you can recreate these very same patterns in other color combos if you're hankering for a particular scheme. How great is that?! Anyway, on to the card...

Happy New Year Card

This seriously couldn't be easier. To begin, I die cut the word "happy" from the patterned paper. Then, I mounted the paper and the letters' innards to a Terra Cotta Tile card base with foam tape.

Happy New Year Close Up

Next, I heat embossed a sentiment from Year Round Happiness onto a strip of True Black cardstock. I trimmed the end at an angle and mounted it to the card front with more foam tape. And that was it! For those of us that may sometimes maybe possibly have a tough time getting their Christmas cards out on time (not this year, not this year, not this year...) it's an easy New Year card to produce quickly.

Next up, I have a congratulatory card to share. This one could be created in more masculine colors if you need something for a fella, but I was feeling the need for a touch of pink today.

Confetti Congrats Card

I began by lightly drawing horizontal lines on my card base to use as guides for my stamping. Then, I created my pattern by stamping my confetti in Limeade Ice, Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, and Berry Sorbet inks. I added a handful of Hawaiian Shores stars in there, too.

Confetti Congrats Close Up

Next, I die cut the Wonderful Words: Congrats shape three times from Hawaiian Shores cardstock and adhered them together. I coated the top with Glossy Accents and set it aside to dry. In the meantime, I erased the pencil lines and stamped the companion sentiment in True Black ink. I also embellished all of the solid Berry Sorbet dots with Crystal glitter. To finish it up, I simply adhered the "congrats" into place.

Thank you all for joining me today! I'll be back tomorrow with a few more Confetti Toss sneak peeks. In the meantime, Nichole, Betsy, DanielleDawnHeather, Melissa, and Erin all have projects to share with you today. Have a great day and I'll see you tomorrow!

Introducing Confetti Toss

Good morning, friends! Welcome to Day 1 of the Papertrey Ink November new release countdown. I am so excited to share my new Confetti Toss collection with you today! This set has been a long time coming. It's been designed for just shy of two years, so I am particularly pumped about finally getting to share! How about we get on to some projects?

Let's start with a more masculine birthday card. After years of forcing rhinestones and bows on everyone I know, I tend to have no concept of gender propriety. So I asked Sean if confetti can be gender neutral. His response was simple and decisive. "Sure. They shoot off confetti at ticker tape parades and the end of major sporting events, don't they?" Such a wise man, that husband of mine. So if veterans and athletes can get down with confetti, so can regular dudes, right?

Birthday Wishes Card

Anyway, I began this card by die cutting a Tipped Tops panel from Tropical Teal cardstock. I cut the Birthday Trio shape from the panel and heat embossed the "wishes" sentiment from Wet Paint Holiday.

Birthday Wishes Close Up

Then, I used Vintage Jadeite, Aqua Mist, and Tropical Teal inks to create a confetti pattern on a white card base. I started with the lighter colors and added the open circles and stars with the darker ink. I added Glossy Accents to some of the mid-size dots for a little texture and then, once they had dried, attached the sentiment panel with foam tape. Easy peasy! The clusters made this design nice and quick.

Next up I have a more feminine design that I created with the new Confetti Toss Patterned Paper Collection. Not a fan of stamping your own confetti? These papers do the heavy lifting for you in four patterns and three color variations! A very special forum friend recently requested that we consider using purple in our future patterned papers. I may not be nearly as fond of purple as Pat, but I always aim to please. I chose to use today's pattern in her honor.

Confetti Text Block Birthday Card

This card came together in a snap. I simply die cut three of the Text Block: Birthday shape from Winter Wisteria cardstock and layered them together for some depth. Then, I glittered the Winter Wisteria dots with Sugar Cube glitter and then covered the dots with Glossy Accents to seal in the glitter and give a bit of dimension.

Confetti Text Block Birthday Close Up

I adhered the patterned piece to a Winter Wisteria card base and tied a white crochet thread bow around the card front. I attached the Text Block to a piece of Linen Vellum and adhered it to the front of the card. See? A snap!

My third and final card of the day pairs the new Cover Plate: Sunflower with Confetti Toss for a fun alternative to coloring or paper piecing.

Sunflower Birthday Card

I began by lightly impressing the Cover Plate into my card base to serve as a guideline for my stamping. Then I masked off the different parts of the flower I wanted to "color" and stamped with a variety of ink colors to give the flower interest. I used sponging on the center of the flower (the Dark Chocolate area) to make sure the color would show though the small holes sufficiently, but everything else was stamped with the confetti dots.

Sunflower Birthday Close Up

Then, I die cut a Cover Plate: Sunflower shape from white cardstock (definitely going to want to bust out your metal shims for this one, folks) and adhered it to the card front with 1/8" ScorTape. Next, I die cut a Sketched Shapes banner from Canyon Clay cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment (also from Confetti Toss) with white detail powder. I adhered the banner in place with foam tape to give it a little height.

And there you have it! Thank you so much for joining me today. I can't wait to come back tomorrow to share more of Confetti Toss with you. In the meantime, make sure to pop in and check out all the inspiration that Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Heather, and Erin have to share with you. See you soon!

Moments Inked: Basic Meal Planning

Good morning, planner people! It's my turn to share how I've been using my Papertrey Ink Moments Inked planner lately. This week I'm sharing my meal planning set up.

Meal Planning Spread

For some reason, meal planning has been notoriously difficult for me in the past. This system is really helping though. I put together a wet-erase page that I've tucked into my planner next to my coupons pocket. I love that it's reusable! All I have to do to start over is wipe it down with a damp towel.

Week Of Meals Page

I created it by die cutting a full size basic page in the Divided Die collection from polka dotted Soft Stone paper and Soft Stone cardstock and adhering them together. Then, I used the largest Boxed Die to cut my daily boxes. I stamped them with rainbow colors using the Wet Paint alphabet. I adhered the boxes in place on both the front and the back. I also added a "Notes" section to the back along with the weekend days. I use that area to write down reminders and highlights about recipes I've tried through the week.

Meal Planning Page and Coupon Pocket

I laminated the whole piece to make it wet-erase. Fair warning, it was so thick that it took a few passes through the laminator to really get everything fully heated and adhered properly, but eventually it all worked out. I trimmed it out with scissors to finish it off.

Meals Tab

I added a "Meals" tab to the top edge of my laminated page using the Divided Die and mini stamp set. That makes it easy to flip right to my page when my planner is closed.

Grocery Tabs

I wanted to have an easy way to separate my shopping list into the places I regularly shop and the Divided Die turned out to be perfect! I die cut three of them and cut the tops into three tabs. I added brightly colored circles to the tabs that I stamped with relevant initials (M is for farmers Market [our indoor market goes through March], K is for Kroger, O is for Other [which is where I write down the things I buy in specialty stores]).

Grocery Tabs and Meal Planning Page

I like being able to see at a glance what items I need to pick up from which stores. It saves me time and makes my trips easy. Having everything written down also keeps me stay on track and only buy the things we actually need from the grocery store. And having the coupon pocket right there is a very handy thing, too!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a great week and I'll see you again soon!

November Color Play

Good morning, friends! Do you all feel totally well rested with your extra "fall back" hour under your belts? I sure hope so! At any rate, welcome to this month's Papertrey Ink Color Play feature. This month we're playing along with this photo:

Source

I really love the fresh feel of these colors together! That bold red really pops off of the cooler tones in the photo and how could I resist pulling out that glorious new Vintage Jadeite for another spin? I'm still solidly in holiday mode, so I thought I'd use this month's palette to create a festive card with modern appeal.

Merry & Bright Card

I began by die cutting a Sentiment Splits: Angle Vertical panel from white cardstock. I stamped that with a variety of the images from Snowflake Flurries using Vintage Jadeite, Hawaiian Shores, and Pure Poppy inks. In some cases I used generation stamping with the Hawaiian Shores snowflakes to add depth of color to my arrangement. Once that was complete, I used the word "merry" from the Wet Paint Holiday collection to cut a negative from the bottom edge of the panel. I also added a strip of striped vellum to the top edge to mimic the stripes of thicker and thinner whitewash in the inspiration photo.

Merry & Bright Close Up

Next, I heat embossed a Classic Kraft card base with the companion sentiment from Wet Paint Holiday and adhered my snowflake panel into place. Then, I die cut the "merry" from Pure Poppy cardstock three times and layered those pieces together to form a thicker die cut. I inlay the pure poppy die cut in to the negative in the snowflake panel and glittered the top layer to make it really stand out. All-in-all it's a simple card, but the little details (like the vellum edge and the glitter) give it plenty of personality.

Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a wonderful week and I'll see you again soon.
