Introducing Bowl Of Sunshine

Good morning, friends, and welcome to the first day of the Papertrey Ink June new release countdown! I have a fun new set to debut this month and I can't wait to share. Bowl Of Sunshine (available June 15th) was inspired by the bowls my grandma used to use in her own kitchen. A little research led me to include three vintage-inspired patterns, solid and outline bowls (perfect for paper piecing), and a colander in the set. There is also a variety of fruit images to keep your bowls full of sunshine. I've been having so much fun with these images and I truly believe you'll love them, too. Shall we get on to a couple of projects?

My first card today uses a sentiment that I used to hear from Grandma whenever things weren't quite going my way.

I began by die cutting and stamping the colander image onto a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock. I heat embossed with white detail powder and set that aside for a moment. Then, I die cut the lemons with leaves shape (you're going to love this die collection - so many possibilities) and stamped it with the coordinating images using Harvest Gold and New Leaf inks. Next, I created my card front. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto Classic Kraft cardstock. Once that had cooled for a moment, I stamped it with Background Basics: Woodgrain and adhered it to a white card base.

Then, I cut a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock into "rays." I sponged three of the rays with white ink to soften the color of the cardstock and then adhered them to the card base. I attached the fruit to the colander with a strip of foam tape and then attached the whole piece to the card front just over the intersection of my rays. I finished the card off with a yellow baker's twine bow.

My next card could be used for all sorts of occasions.

I began by stamping a Spring Rain card front with Background Basics: Tin Types in the same color ink and adhered it to a white card base. Next, I die cut a bowl and the oranges only shape from white cardstock and stamped them with the coordinating images. The bowl was first stamped with the solid image and then with the dotted border thereafter. I continued by stamping the grounding oval, leaves, and sentiment onto white cardstock. I wanted a little variation in the color of the shadow, so I stamped the second generation of Spring Rain first and then rolled the edges of the oval in Spring Rain again and stamped it a second time. I matted the focal image with a piece of Summer Sunrise cardstock and mounted it to the card front with foam tape.

Next, I took my oranges die cut and textured it with the Linen & Canvas impression plate a couple of times. Doing so gives the oranges a realistic, bumpy finish. Then I attached a strip of clear cardstock to the back of the die cut. I taped the ends of the clear cardstock to the focal panel in a slight "U" shape which gives the die cut a subtle, rounded appearance (and it smooshes flat for easy mailing). I mounted the bowl atop the fruit with foam tape to finish off the card.

Well, that's all for me today. Thank you so much for joining me! I hope you'll stop by again tomorrow as I share a bit more with Bowl Of Sunshine. In the meantime, Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Erin, Heather, Laurie, and Melissa all have projects to inspire you up on their blogs. Enjoy and I'll see you tomorrow!

  12. Love this set Lizzie! When you said there were lots of uses for the fruit, it got me to wondering if this fruit would fit with the Vintage Picnic basket? They look about the same size.
