Introducing Corner Adorner, Shape Shifters, Let's Fiesta, and Nesting Basics

Good morning, friends, and welcome to the Papertrey Ink January countdown! We're kicking things off today with Betsy's Shape Shifters: Square 4 and Let's Fiesta along with my Corner Adorner: January and Nesting Basics: Pierced Ovals. It's a great month and this is a super fun way to kick things off. Let's get started!

My first card today features Betsy's Let's Fiesta paired with my Nesting Basics: Pierced Ovals.

I began by stamping and die cutting a whole mess of the colorful paper fans from Let's Fiesta. These are so much fun! I went with bright, citrusy colors that reminded me of the decor at my favorite Mexican restaurant. They're such happy colors!

Then, I sponged Harvest Gold onto a white card base and speckled it with clean water and reinker. The effect is subtle, but it gives the sponged area a really wonderful texture. I used the Nesting Basics: Pierced Ovals to die cut two ovals into the card base and then stamped the sentiment from Let's Fiesta using black ink.

I arranged the paper fans around the die cut ovals using different levels of flat and foam adhesives to make sure the card had plenty of interest and texture. It's a one layer card with plenty of pop!

My second card today pairs Betsy's Shape Shifters: Square 4 with my Corner Adorner: January.

I began by die cutting the central medallion and middle border from the Shape Shifters from white, Terra Cotta Tile, Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise, and Dark Indigo cardstocks. I backed the white layer with adhesive paper and then filled in the open spaces with the colorful cardstocks. Isn't it amazing?!

I set that piece aside while I stamped a Terra Cotta Tile card base with the Corner Adorner confetti. I wanted it to look like a the medallion was a bright tile mounted to a terra cotta wall and the confetti image gives the cardstock just the right amount of texture. I stamped the corner image so that they almost form a round frame around the tile.

I mounted the Shape Shifters layer to my card front with foam tape. Next, I heat embossed the sentiment from Corner Adorner: January onto a strip of vellum and adhered the ends of the strip to the inside of the card. I covered them with a panel of white cardstock to give the inside a nice, finished appearance.

So there you have Day 1! Are you excited? There are so many fun things coming. I can't wait to share! Dawn and Michelle are featuring today's introductions so you should definitely pop in and see how they're using these fabulous new goodies. Betsy, Kelly, Laurie, Melissa B, and Steph are also sharing today, so make sure to visit them too. I'll see you back here tomorrow for Day 2!

  3. Hi Lizzie! I'm going back on the blog posts I missed, this has been a busy week around here. Wasn't it supposed to slow down after the holidays?! Your fiesta fan card is so pretty! I like your"mess" of colorful fans that just speak happiness! And your 2nd card, wow! I don't know if you intended a Southwestern flavor, but it's beautiful & a real fav. An outstanding example of how color changes the total look and feel.
