Papertrey Ink Feature: Introducing The Gift Card Cozy Collection

Good morning, friends, and welcome to Day 2 of the Papertrey Ink September new release countdown (just a reminder: the new products will be available on the Papertrey Ink website starting at 10pm Eastern time on the 15th)! I'm back this morning to introduce another collection I'm very excited to share. The Gift Card Cozy Collection is a gift card holder die and a coordinating stamp set (available separately) full of all-occasion sentiments to dress up your Gift Card Cozy or even gift tags. The stamp set also includes two ribbons and a bow that you can layer together to make your Gift Card Cozy look like a beautifully wrapped package (I sneaked these into yesterday's post too, so be sure to check that out if you missed it).

With gift cards becoming more and more popular for all sorts of gift giving occasions, this is a collection that I know you're going to find useful all year round!

Gift Card Cozy Trio

I put together a few Gift Card Cozies to share with you today that cover a variety of celebrations. I have one for the holidays, one for a birthday, and one for a non-specific gift giving purpose. Let's take a closer look!

Here's the holiday version. These Gift Card Cozies come together so quickly, you're going to love how easy it is to whip up a whole batch of them for the holidays.

Using patterned paper makes the process even more effortless. I used the Bitty Big: Simply Chartreuse paper for this cozy. I stamped the narrow ribbon on the solid panel with VersaMark and then heat embossed with Zing! Rouge powder. I also embellished the front with holly leaves and berries from Brilliant Baubles. I don't usually use colored embossing powder, but it's perfect for those times you want to heat emboss on patterned paper or dark cardstock. I followed up with the sentiment both on the font...

...and on the inside of the flap. The flap of the cozy is a wonderful place to stamp an additional message to your recipient. I also love using the Bitty Big papers for these cozies because you get the benefit of pattern on the inside and the outside of your pocket. Plus, you can get up to three cozies from each sheet of paper so it's cost effective, too!

I also heat embossed the bow image using the same Rouge powder, but (a little trick) I stamped in Pure Poppy first to make sure that the image would look nice and solid even if the embossing powder got a little splotchy. Then, I adhered just the top half of the bow to the flap of the cozy. That way the flap can still slide in and out of the slot, but the back of the cozy gets a little bit prettified too. It's a simple detail, but I totally love it.

Next up, I have a birthday Gift Card Cozy. I used the ribbons to stamp a custom plaid design on this one!

Plaid Birthday Gift Card Holder

I began by die cutting a Gift Card Cozy from Hawaiian Shores cardstock. Then I cut a panel of Fresh Snow Linen cardstock to be just a hair smaller than the solid panel of the cozy. I used the ribbons to stamp a Tropical Teal and Green Parakeet plaid pattern on the panel. The Tropical Teal was a cinch. The Green Parakeet ribbons needed to be extended slightly, but it was easy to line up the ends and stamp again.

Next, I die cut a I cut an oval from the center of the panel using the window die from the Truffle Tote Box Die and stamped the greeting in the opening. I heat embossed the sentiment with white detail powder to make it pop against the Hawaiian Shores background.

I did the same on the flap of the cozy, this time on the outside. I assembled the cozy using ScorTape (I like the 1/4" for these) and adhered the plaid panel to the front of the cozy. I'm excited to try a couple of different plaid patterns in seasonal color schemes for the holidays!

Last today I have an all-purpose Gift Card Cozy. You could use this design for nearly any occasion.

Gift For You Gift Card Holder

I began by die cutting a cozy from Classic Kraft cardstock and stamping it with the wider, striped ribbon in Dark Indigo. Then, I die cut an oval tag (from the Petal Box Die) from Fresh Snow Linen cardstock. I sponged the edges of that tag with Spring Rain ink just to give it a bit of depth around the edges.

Next, I stamped a section of the wreath from Heather's Berry Wreath set (also being introduced today) onto the bottom half of the tag along with the sentiment from Gift Card Cozy Sentiments in Dark Indigo ink. I used a fine point glue pen to add crystal glitter to the berries on the wreath and then used white crochet thread (instead of the stamped ribbon) to tie the tag to the cozy.

You can switch up the style of these cozies so easily by using one ribbon, both ribbons, or images from a favorite stamp set instead. It's so versatile!

  1. Grrr ... love that Gift Card Cozy die, even though I own a very similar die from another company (paid $32 for it). Yours is so much better designed and simple to use. Grrrr. All of your porjects are cute, cute, cutel. Love the plaid birthday one.

  2. These are so darn cute - I especially love the plaid. It's funny - just yesterday I tossed some red embossing power that I haven't used in forever. Of course now I see a use for it! Oh well.
