Papertrey Ink Feature - Initial Sentiments: Birthday

Good morning, everyone! I'm here today sharing a brand new set coming your way on April 15th designed by Nichole Heady called Initial Sentiments: Birthday. This set is absolutely packed with basic birthday greetings in a wide variety of typestyles. I don't know about you, but I can always use fantastic greetings for key occasions like birthdays so I am absolutely thrilled to be adding this set to my collection. Enough chit chat! Let's get on to some projects!

I'm starting today with a simple, masculine card.

I began by using the stitched border from new Mix & Mat: Scallops to add a bit of detail to a clean, white card base. I love that the border adds interest without the bulk of an added layer.

Then, I stamped the large "HB" image, masking off sections of the image while inking so I could incorporate more color. There's enough space between the portions of the image that you could probably even just take care when inking and avoid masking entirely.

Then I heat embossed the "happy birthday" onto a True Black cardstock strip and attached it to the card front with foam tape. You could do this same design in other color combos and package them together with a handful of envelopes for a wonderful gift!

Next up, I've paired one of the more feminine sentiment styles with the pretty floral cake from Just Desserts.

I began by die cutting a card base using the Noted: Scalloped A2 Die. Then I masked off the scalloped edges of the card front and sponged Aqua Mist ink onto the open area. I flecked the sponged surface with clean water and Aqua Mist reinker to add interest.

Once it had dried, I stamped the swashy "hb" in Berry Sorbet and added the companion sentiment in Dark Chocolate. I love that Nichole included the break in the large image to allow the companion sentiment to inlay like that.

Then I die cut and stamped the cake from Just Desserts. I used colored pencils to add shading to the flowers and leaves. I added the flower clusters with foam tape and adhered the candles behind for depth.

I used a Copic marker to color clear rhinestones and used those to embellish the cake before adhering it to the card front with foam tape. A perfectly girlie card, for sure!

And finally today I have a little bit of a punny card to share with you. I got this idea stuck in my head and decided to just play around with it.

I began by sponging a white card base with Aqua Mist ink in a subtle ombré. Then I stamped the stitched Ombré Builders image over my sponging with the same ink. The effect is perfectly soft. Next, I cut a white panel and die cut a circle from the center. I used the hexagon image from Initial Sentiments: Birthday to create a honeycomb pattern using Lemon Tart, Harvest Gold, and Summer Sunrise inks.

Then, I die cut and stamped the coneflower images from Flower Favorites. I added a bit of blending on the flowers to add depth. Next, I heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of Stamper's Select Vellum. I masked the different parts of the sentiment so I could stamp them a little closer together than the original layout of the stamp and then placed adhered the bee from Flower Favorites in the appropriate place. I also stamped the "H" and "!" images onto scrap cardstock and used a basic hole punch to punch them out before adhering them to the vellum strip.

I attached the sentiment strip in the honeycomb panel's window and adhered the whole thing to the card base with foam tape. Then I tucked the coneflower under the vellum strip and used a bit of flat and foam adhesive to secure it in place. I know just who is getting this card for her birthday - my mom. She's the only person on the face of the Earth who loves puns more than my husband.
