Good morning, everyone, and welcome back for the fifth day of Papertrey Ink's April Countdown. I have a final handful of projects to share with you today that feature 7th Inning Stretch, Handy Hardware, and the On The Links die collection. Let's get right into it!
My first card today is a thank you card using Handy Hardware. I started by stamping the barn wood background from Background Basics Farm & Barn onto Spring Rain cardstock with VersaMark ink. I stamped two panels at an angle and attached them to a Rustic White card base so that the stripes resembled a chevron-y barn door.
Then I die cut and stamped my tools with Dark Chocolate and Enchanted Evening inks. Next, I die cut a Mat Stack 3 shape and double cut a 2 1/4" Limitless Layers Oval right out of the center. I mounted that atop a panel of cork that had been adhered to the card base. The tools were adhered by using Scor-Tape to secure their handles and foam tape to pop up their tops.
The final step was stamping the sentiment on a banner from Bountiful Banners. That was adhered to the frame with Scor-Tape on each end and foam tape in the center to give it a little dimension. Nice and simple, but lots of great texture.
My next card is a birthday card featuring 7th Inning Stretch, but with a few elements that make it potentially more appealing to a softball star than a baseball guy. I used a Royal Velvet, True Black, and Aqua Mist color combination as well as stripes of glitter between each of the bat "rays."
I created my rays by first stamping the liner-upper stamp from Hello, Sunshine in Soft Stone and then used that as a guide for each bat. The helmet is plenty large enough to cover the liner-upper, so it works out perfectly! After my rays were finished, I stamped my sentiment and then went back and added strips of 1/8" Scor-Tape down the center of each gap.
Next, and this is important, I mounted my helmet before I sprinkled on the glitter. That allows the foam tape to really stick to the base (and the ends of the Scor-Tape) without having to worry about stray glitter weakening the adhesive's hold. Super simple and easy to customize with your MVP's favorite colors.
My third card of the day is another 7th Inning Stretch number. For this card I began by die cutting several 1 3/4" circles from white cardstock.
I stamped each circle with the stitching image from the set and adhered all but the sentiment ball to a Soft Stone card base. The card was then impressed with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. Doing this step after adhering all of the balls in place saves a lot of time.
The ball with the sentiment was stamped and textured separately before being mounted with foam tape to help it stand out a little bit.
My final card of this release features the On The Links die collection. I began by stamping the argyle pattern from A Little Argyle onto a piece of Aqua Mist cardstock. That was then die cut using the Fabulous Frames die.
I next wrapped the frame with some crochet thread and finished it off with a button and bow (again, one little bow never hurt anybody - just ask your shoe laces). I stamped the sentiment on a Soft Stone Base and added the frame with foam tape.
Next, I die cut two of the golf bag and stamped one in Pinefeather and one in Palette Charcoal. I trimmed the clubs from the Pinefeather image and adhered it over the Charcoal copy. The golf bag was then also added to the front of the card with foam tape.
Well that's all for me for this countdown. Thank you for joining me this week. I hope you've enjoyed yourselves and picked up a little inspiration along the way. I can't wait to see what you all do with 7th Inning Stretch, Handy Hardware, and the On The Links die collection. I hope you'll share your creations with me! See you soon!

April Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 4
Good morning, Everyone! Welcome back for Day 4 of this month's Papertrey Ink countdown. Thank you so much for your kind notes and comments over the past few days. I can't tell you how excited I am that you are all enjoying the festivities. The only thing better than knowing you're all excited is getting to see what you create with the stamps once you've received them yourselves. It's so rewarding to see people making wonderful things with images that mean so much to me. Yay!
I thought I'd start today with a little gift set I put together using Handy Hardware.
This set would be perfect for any Do-It-Yourself fella in your life. I started with the pillow box. I die cut the box and then added texture with the Woodgrain impression plate (keep in mind that the box is too large to do all at one time, so start with the back and do the front second).
I wrapped the box with a bit of Ripe Avocado twill that I had stamped with the bolts image. I ironed the ribbon immediately after stamping to make sure that the ink dried quickly and didn't bleed too much. That was layered with a Rustic Jute twine bow. I adhered a sentiment banner and a two-tone hammer with a bit of Scor-tape overtop of the ribbon and twine.
A note about the sentiment: I designed this sentiment as two parts. There is the "to a very special" beginning and "guy," "grandpa," and "dad" endings. That way you can cover just about anyone from friends to family and beyond.
I started the card by stamping the bolts in Spring Moss over the bottom third of the base and wrapping the whole thing with a bit of Ripe Avocado saddle stitched ribbon and Rustic Jute twine. Then I set about making my focal point. I die cut the Mat Stack 1 Layerz shape from Classic Kraft cardstock and stamped the "Happy Birthday" in Dark Chocolate before adding texture with the Woodgrain impression plate.
Next, I die cut the letters and the screwdriver for my sentiment. I stamped the screwdriver with some easy masking and adhered all of the small parts to my Mat Stack shape. The focal point was then added to the card base with a bit of foam tape.
Today's final project is my attempt at taking 7th Inning Stretch in a slightly vintage direction (or at least as vintage as I ever go). I began by stamping a panel of Fine Linen cardstock with the Background Basics: Postmarks strip in VersaMark ink.
Next, I took a bit of Ocean Tides cardstock and textured it with the Aida impression plate. I hand stitched the two together and adhered them to a Rustic White base. Next I die cut the baseball bat from thin birch veneer, lightly sanded the edges, and stained it with Classic Kraft ink. I stamped the bat onto the wooden cut out and colored in the tape on the bat's grip with a white pen. I die cut my banner and stamped my sentiment in Dark Chocolate ink before adhering the banner and the bat to the card front.
The baseball was created by taking a small button and threading it with red embroidery floss to look like the stitching. I saw Betsy Veldman do this with paper buttons a little over a year ago and it just stuck with me. It adds such a fun dimensional element to the focal point.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope to see you back here tomorrow for more projects featuring these two new sets. Have a wonderful day and I'll see you then!

April Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 3
Hello again, Friends! I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying this month's countdown. I've had so much fun making samples with this month's stamps and your enthusiasm is very much appreciated! I have a few more projects to share today, so let's get started.
Today I'd like to start with a Father's Day card that features patterned paper I created by repeatedly stamping the tools from Handy Hardware. I then added texture with the Linen & Canvas impression plate.
I was so smitten with the way the patterned paper turned out that I didn't want to cover it up too much. To avoid hiding my pattern I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of vellum that I die cut using one of the Half & Half dies.
I stitched that to the top edge of my patterned piece and curled it up a bit with my fingers (just to give it some dimension).
I adhered that whole layer to a Classic Kraft base and mounted Headline Alphabet letters to the vellum with small strips of foam tape. It's a simple card, but I love the boldness of the tool patterned paper.
My second project is a congratulations card. It's not unusual to hear "nailed it" followed by a high-five in our house. It's our way of celebrating things, both big and small. So I had that in mind while I was working on this card. I started by die cutting the Mat Stack 5 shape and stamping it with the image from Modern Wood Mats.
Next, I took one of the stars from Star Prints and stamped it onto a post-it note. I cut down one of the interior lines to give me a slightly smaller star and stuck the post it to the Mat Stack shape. Then I went around the perimeter of the star and stuck a small pin hole everywhere that I wanted to have a "nailhead."
I removed the post-it star and proceeded to glue down a tiny circle of silver cardstock at each of the pin holes. You could easily do the same thing with a silver pen, but I like to make things difficult on myself. I went back and tapped each nailhead with a glitter pen and a tiny, tiny dot of Glossy Accents. It's hard to see in the photos, but the star has great texture and it sparkles just enough.
Next, I created a sentiment banner and stitched it into place on the Mat Stack shape. I mounted that piece to an Aqua Mist base that I stamped with the smallest dot from Polka Dot Basics. Then I went about creating my hammer. I die cut two hammer shapes and stamped and heat embossed one in silver. The other hammer was stamped in Classic Kraft. I trimmed around the handle edge of the Kraft image and adhered it over top of the silver one. The I finished the card by mounting the hammer next to the star on the Mat Stack layer.
My final project today is a spirit banner that I created for my husband (and his mama). See, Sean's a big Reds fan and I thought he might enjoy having a piece of decor that announces his allegiance.
I started by die cutting all of my flags and accessory pieces. Next I stamped my baseball bats on the center flag and heat embossed them with clear powder. Then, the three red flags were stamped with Fresh Snow polka dots and the two white flags were stamped with the stitched background in True Black. Next I assembled the major parts and set them aside.
I stamped and cut out the baseball cap and batting helmet (yes, there are dies, but they've been a little delayed), stamped the stitching on my baseballs, and added texture with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. I layered the "REDS" letters to give a shadowed effect (like their logo) and mounted those to the center flag with foam tape.
The baseballs were mounted to pinked circles and embellished with the word "go." Those were then mounted to the other red flags while the cap and the helmet were mounted to the white flags with foam tape.
Then I punched holes in the corner of each flag and used 1/4" silk ribbon (colored black with a marker) and buttons to thread the flags and keep them secure. Isn't it fun?! I love that these images are generic enough that you can make them work for any team (I'm sure I have an O's banner in my future if my papa-in-law has anything to say about it).
Thank you for stopping by today. I'll see you right back here tomorrow with more of these two new sets. See you then!

April Papertrey Ink Countdown - Day 2
Hello, Friends, and welcome to Day 2 of the April Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I am sharing more of 7th Inning Stretch as well as introducing the On The Links Die Collection. On The Links released in March of last year and almost immediately I was wishing I had dies to coordinate with my stamps. So good news for anyone that was in the same boat - they've arrived!
My first card today is a Father's Day card that incorporates the golf cart and pin flag dies. I've hand cut several of those little carts, but no more! The new die collection made this card a breeze. I die cut and stamped my cart and then fussy cut the wheels and adhered them over the Aqua Mist image.
Then I stamped my putting green scene and sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock before matting it with a layer of Lemon Tart striped paper that I cut on the diagonal. I mounted the focal panel to an Aqua Mist base that had been embellished with a bit of Lemon Tart Saddle Stitched ribbon and a bit of baker's twine. I am of the opinion that one little bow every once in a while isn't going to hurt anybody, so, yes, this Father's Day card has a bow on it.
The golf cart and flag were mounted with a bit of foam tape and a tiny pearl was added as a golf ball embellishment.
Today's second card is of the birthday variety. I recently made a similar card for my papa-in-law's birthday, but I kept it under wraps until now so I could share it with all of you.
I started by die cutting several tees from Fine Linen cardstock and heat embossed each one with the tee image from On The Links.
Next I die cut rolling hills from Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado patterned papers. I stamped and embossed my sentiment before adhering those to an Aqua Mist card base.
I stamped my clouds with a glue pad and sprinkled on a bit of white flocking to make them nice and fluffy. Next, I tucked my tees randomly along the hills and adhered them into place. I finished the card by adding die cut letters to the tops of the tees to spell out the word "happy."
Now I have a couple of 7th Inning Stretch cards to share. One of the first things I knew I wanted to do when I got my hands on these stamps was to create a varsity jacket using the stamps and the Shape Up Series: Sweater die. It turned out just the way I'd imagined it.
I started by cutting my sweater die from Pure Poppy and Fine Linen cardstocks. I trimmed the sleeve from the Fine Linen cut and adhered it to the Pure Poppy layer. Then I trimmed the sleeve and waist band so they would come in a little just like a varsity jacket. I created the striped trim using Faux Ribbon and cut the collar to look more like the real thing. I added lapels and a T-shirt behind the jacket opening.
Next I stamped and embossed the sentiment and added the numbers to the front of the jacket. Then I added the shiny white buttons with small circle punches and a coating of glossy accents. The whole jacket piece was then adhered to a card base that I had been cut with the Sweater die.
The front of the card had so much personality that leaving the inside blank seemed like a shame, so I stamped the baseball bat in Fine Linen and the birthday sentiment in Dark Chocolate. The great thing about this card is that the colors and number can be completely customized. You could use the recipient's age, jersey number, year of birth, or year of graduation to make it even more personalized. So many possibilities!
My fourth and final project today features the baseball mitt image from 7th Inning Stretch. The mitt and the small ball image in the set coordinate perfectly!
I began by stamping my baseball onto Pure Poppy cardstock and heat embossing it with white powder (that way the stitching is red while the ball is white). I punched that out with a 1/2" punch and set it aside for a moment. Next, I stamped the mitt image and cut it out. The baseball was adhered into the palm of the mitt and a 1/2" epoxy dome was added to give a little extra dimension.
Next I stamped the tag from Fillable Frames #9 and hand cut that as well (the coordinating die has a hole through which you would string the tag, but I didn't want that hole in this instance, so hand cutting worked just fine). I stamped my sentiment and mounted that and the mitt to a panel of striped New Leaf patterned paper (chosen to resemble the stripes mowed into the grass at a ball diamond).
The patterned paper had been layered with a piece of cardstock for stability and the whole piece had been textured with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. A bit of Pure Poppy saddle stitched ribbon and a rustic jute bow were also added to embellish the panel. Everything was then mounted to a Kraft base using foam tape.
That's all for me today. I hope you'll join me again tomorrow with more projects showcasing my new sets for April. See you then!

Introducing 7th Inning Stretch & Handy Hardware
Hello, Friends, and welcome to the first day of Papertrey Ink's April countdown! Today I have the pleasure of introducing two new sets that I designed with the misters in mind (but I hope to show that they're versatile to work for the ladies, too). Let's get to it, shall we?
I'm going to start with a sporty set I put together for the baseball fan in your life. 7th Inning Stretch is a $15 set that will be available on the 15th of this month. The set includes several iconic baseball images along with a handful of sentiments to match.
My father-in-law once told my husband that there is nowhere in the world that he would rather be than a ballpark. I created this card with him in mind.
I started by stamping the stitched pattern onto a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock and then die cut that with the Tag Sale #4 die. Next, I die cut the Framed Out #11 from the center of the tag, leaving the negative. The baseball stitches image is designed to coordinate with a 1.75" circle die, but it just so happens that it perfectly fits into the Framed Out shape as well. The stitches are stamped into white cardstock using Pure Poppy ink. That piece is adhered to the tag using foam tape.
I created the pattern on my Soft Stone base by stamping the baseball bat repeatedly using Spring Rain ink. The sentiment was stamped in Pure Poppy before the tag was adhered to the base and embellished with Pure Poppy saddle-stitched ribbon and a Spring Rain button.
This next card pairs 7th Inning Stretch with Thanks All Ways to create a simple and customizable thank you card.
You could easily substitute your team's colors to personalize the card for your favorite coach.
I began by stamping the baseball cap in Enchanted Evening ink onto Kraft cardstock and cut that out by hand. Next, I stamped my sentiment and masked off two rows of hexagons using the Cover Plate: Hexagons die to create a decorative strip reminiscent of home plate.
I die cut my mask using post-it notes and stamped my border with the striped hexagon image from Happy Hexagons. I finished my card by mounting my cap with a bit of foam tape.
The next set I would like to introduce is Handy Hardware. This set also retails for $15 and will be available beginning on April 15th. Handy Hardware celebrates tools and includes sentiments for everything from an apology to Father's Day and beyond.
My first card using Handy Hardware is inspired by my dad. You see, my dad is a carpenter and a very Do-It-Yourself type of fella. For as long as I can remember he, tools, and plaid have been completely intertwined.
So I went about creating a Father's Day card that would befit my papa. I started by stamping my plaid pattern using Enchanted Evening, Fresh Snow, and Pinefeather inks onto Kraft cardstock (I promise that shades of blue and brown are not all you'll see here this week - that's just how it happened to fall today). I also added a little texture with the Linen & Canvas impression plate.
Next, I created a coordinating pattern by stamping the decorative bolts strip in Pinefeather ink onto Pinefeather cardstock. I adhered those two pieces to a Rustic White base and wrapped the entire card with a length of rustic jute twine.
Over the twine, I mounted a square of Rustic White stock that I had stamped with the Father's Day sentiment and a frame from Framed Out #6. A die cut wrench was added to embellish the focal point.
My fourth and final card today is a birthday card. I wanted to do something a little different on this one, so I die cut a pinked edge on a piece of 1/32" thick birch veneer and then stamped and embossed my sentiment with clear detail embossing powder.
Next, I stained the wood with a sponge and some Dark Chocolate ink, so the sentiment really pops. I adhered that to a Rustic White card base that had been stamped with a stitched background using Ripe Avocado ink. A piece of Dark Chocolate twill adds nice texture and does a great job of hiding the impression made by the pinking shears die.
Then, I die cut the saw twice. On one of the cuts I stamped using VersaMark and embossed with silver powder. On the other cut I stamped with Classic Kraft ink. I trimmed closely around the handle of the saw and adhered it over top of the silver image (by die cutting twice I was able to keep the hole in the center of the handle). The saw was then mounted to the card with foam tape. It's a little hard to tell from the photos, but the ink-stained wood gives the whole sentiment panel a really cool appearance.
That's all for me today. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you back here tomorrow for more fun with my new sets for April. See you then!
